Censorship?

Admin edit: The PSH owner recently reached out to clarify things and we've settled our differences. While we do not take censorship lightly, the site was initially blocked in prevention of spam. This is no longer an issue, and as such, we've re-enabled links that were pointing to the site. Thanks for your understanding.

In my introduction thread I mentioned that I'm active on PSP-Hacks and PSPSlimHacks. Yet PSPSlimHacks shows up as ****************.... why?

edit... wtf.. I miss being with the mature people at MfM, can't we (the admins or whoever censors words) grow up a bit?.. P S P S L I M H A C K S . C O M. I don't understand why that get's sent to PSPSlimHacks yet PSP-Hacks.com works just fine.

What's the big deal?

I think they just want to discourage talks about other forums.

There'll be reasons behind the name block. It wouldn't have been done for no reason. Maybe the admins/users there were spamming their site?

It really isn't that bad, just the other day I referred to QJ and it didnt work with the .net behind it, so I just went with "QJ". Problem solved. They aren't being that strict, you can refer to the site just not the full URL, though you can link to it, so what's the problem.

As it was mentioned earlier there probably was just cause for the censorship when it was implemented; we'll review everything once the dust settles from the merger.

For your information, when you say you miss being with the mature people at MfM you might not realize it but we're actually all here now (members, staff, and the admins) and the admins have been "together", working as a collective but on 2 different sites, for a year and half. There's going to be an adjustment period but the core of MfM is it's community and ideals which will definitely be front and center on the "new" eXophase.

Maybe some of the admins there pissed off some of the admins here.

Kinda "QJ rerun".

Theres been other battles besides QJ? Ive only been a mod since probably a few months before the whole thing blew up, but i havent heard of anyone else hating us. And if thats the case, uncie x3 has a reason. Gotta respect your elders. I learned that the hard way :p

It's annoying. At first I thought it was just a glitch from the merge, but then it happened in this thread too. I think all censorship is immature and annoying.

I'm not sure if curse words are censored here, but this is my opinion on censorship in general (leaning heavily towards 'bad' words): "What do you make of a society that is so primitive that it clings to the belief that certain words in its language are so powerful that they could corrupt you the moment you hear them?"

Word censorship is not something we do. The context is what becomes important. If you want to use the word fuck then do so if the context is appropriate.

Fuck yeah! <-- no problem
Go fuck yourself <-- bye, see you later

Edit - PS: Don't know if you noticed it but there's an "MfM Throwback" forum skin available if you prefer the dark theme we had as default. ;)

What's more immature, an admin of a website going to a different website and spamming theirs and trash talking said different website, or blocking him from being able to spam his website. I think it's pretty self explanatory.

There has to be some degree of censorship, there are many users here covering a broad range of ages - the context in which it is said is the prevailing factor.
