Japanese homebrew developer NJ has released updates to both of his Capcom Play System emulators for PSP, CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP.

Changes include improved load times and NJ notes that both emulators have been compiled with GCC 4.10 which should give a slight speedup.

Download:

CPS1PSP 2.2.3 For 1.5 Kernel

It's not, its just in Japanese.

Anyway ROMs for CPS1 and CPS2 are in ZIP format and there's a bunch of other small files in the zip with different extensions.

Is there anything with a better readme file?
If not i will just try my best.

not that I know of. but the emulator is pretty simple to use. If your games aren't working make sure you have converted them using the romcnv program that's included in the archive. That will create a "cache" folder which you move over to the emulator directory.

When i try to romcnv there a error that says incorrect file name.
Can you show me some examples of the extensions of files that should be in the zip maybe its not the right file.
When i use the converter it says searching for rom, is that a .rom file or is it the zip as a whole?

Well it looks for files in the ZIP. Here's what one of the CPS2 games I have looks like

Has that file already been converted?
Hmm i dont know what im doing wrong...
I found a really good guide at qj.net.
nope, it hasn't been converted. I am using the emulator on a PSP Slim so no need to convert. Are you using it on a Slim too? Because converted zips won't work on the Slim version.

No, How did you get your zip files name?
Nevermind im giving up...

Two questions
1. do you have update romsets like with MAME
2. Has anyone heard of a mame project for psp or are all systems in mame already having there seperate emus.
3. wupps one more ( a little off topic ) what systems does MAME emulate.

Any MAME rom set should work although I am using the latest myself. There is a MAME4ALL emulator for the PSP but it doesn't support all arcade platforms (i.e. no CPS2 support).

As for which systems, Neo Geo, CPS1, CPS2, CPS3. I'm sure there's more but... those are the major ones.

Do I need a romcnv for CPS1? Because it didn't come with one..I have one for CPS2 and MVPSP. (PSP Phat) Do I have to have the zip of the rom in the rom folder AND the cache zip? The Metal slug games are a blast..

What are some games that anyone would recommend?

So the CPS2 can emulate more then just it self?
