While it's been a long time coming, the promised DX11 patch for Crytek's alien-ridden shooter Crysis 2 is nearly here. A 'DirectX 11 Tessellation Package' page on the official MyCrysis site has went live, detailing the*imminent patch, which adds a new 'Ultra' preset. Here's the skinny:
The DX11 Ultra Upgrade is a free visual improvement add-on introducing DirectX 11 support as well as a wealth of graphical improvements and performance optimization for both DX11 and DX9 API's.

Once this finally comes out I think I will try playing through single player and try multiplayer again. I know most of the bugs are finally worked out, at least with singleplayer and losing things etc so I think I'll finally play through that.

I expect to see some nice comparison shots from you x3sphere. Really wish I had a DX11 card as always

This is a piece of news that especially interest you x3sphere xD

I'm surprised people still care about this game. To me personally, it was a disappointment. I had high hopes of it then was shot down. But that could be because I played it on a console. I should probably try it out on PC before giving a final verdict.

I bought a second low res-monitor because this already lags. Now it's going to lag some more :/

The new settings aren't mandatory. The tessellation and high res texture packs are optional downloads. Performance in the game won't be affected. If you got 30fps before then you should get 30fps after.

I don't play games on medium. I'll just stop playing the multiplayer altogether if the FPS is too low. I was getting 60fps with occasional dips before. I can play single player at any fps.

It's out! :D

Just a note for those with DX11 cards and using Steam, you still need to download the tessellation and hi-res textures separately.

After playing with it a bit, it definitely looks much better. I also forgot how much fun multiplayer is.

The only bad thing is that the glare is a bit more pronounced, which gets annoying in maps like Skyline.

I now get 20-30 FPS on all highest settings.
