Huzzah! In a rather surprising move, Valve Software and developer Crytek announced today that the original Electronic Arts-published Crysis as well as the forthcoming expansion Warhead will be sold through Valve's Steam digital distribution platform later this month. No word on pricing yet, though it's great knowing that folks who want to purchase these titles digitally won't have to deal with EA's download store and instead can go straight through Steam.
Does this mean we'll see more EA titles in the future? Maybe, maybe not. See, Crytek is a part of the EA Partners program. In other words, they aren't owned by EA. The publishing agreement they have made likely allows them to do this. That said, it's a safe bet we'll see more from EA Partners on Steam in the future, but for titles developed by EA-owned studios, there's a slim to none chance.
