Do I need to re-download 1.5 to upgrade?

When I go into recovery mode (when the stupid PSP turns on, that is...), I go to Config, and it says: Game folder homebrew currently 3.3 Kernel. If I click X, it changes to currently 1.5 Kernel.

If I was to upgrade, would I leave it at 1.5, change it back to 3.3, or do I have to redownload everything I need and start all over? Sorry for the noob questions, but I'm really new at this. (And please speak slowly, I'm also blonde!)

Upgrade to what? A newer custom firmware version? If so, then no you don't need to set the kernel to 1.5.

Instead, place the update files in the GAME150 folder on your memory stick. Then run the program through the PSP's Game menu as normal.
 
Sorry, I meant upgrade to either 3.5 or 3.7. I haven't seen much info out there for 3.3, so I didn't know if I had to downgrade to 1.5 before going higher. I'm hoping that upgrading may fix the problem I mentioned in my other thread (system not turning on). And of course, it will let me play the newer games.

No need to downgrade to 1.5, follow this guide to upgrade to 3.52 M33: http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732

You can skip the first step in the guide since you aren't running 1.5.
