Downgraded TA-082 PSP to 1.50.. what to do next?

tata

New Member
i am totally new user with a TA-082 motherboard PSP with firmware 2.71, just downgraded to 1.50.

I still need to figure out what to do next,

which firmware to choose v3.03 OE-A B or C, 3.40 OE-A ... or the 3.52 m33?

and
how to play dumped cso, iso or any other games after that?

i just want to go for a stable release, which is tried and tested for quite some time...and can be easily upgraded from 1.5 firmware.

i'd really appreciate any suggestion.

thank u
:tata:

I would suggest 3.52M33, a guide which can be found HERE, it is very stable and the best CFW to date. To play .cso files you have to make an ISO folder in the root of your memstick and put them there and any CFW will auto-recognize it and put it in your memstick's game section.

thanks for ur reply Cheezeball99 :).

is there another version or patch of 3.52M33 .... like 3.52 M33 V2 ?
(... i found it on net)

i have a few questions,

1. is this same for PSP ta-082 running with 1.5 firmware?
2. will i be able to run my existing UMDs with 3.52 M33/V2?
3. will i be able to play all 1.5 compatible iso cso dumps after this?
4. what is active 1.50 Kernel and recovery menu? how to get this? i saw some issues regarding this 3.52 M33 with on net.

i'm sorry if there is some stupid questions
i have googled for all these but the results are so confusing to decide what to choose.....as i'm a total noob in this field.

thanks again

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.
4. The recovery menu is a menu that you access by holding R when you start your PSP. You can tweak various settings, such as the kernel- See, when you install a CFW (custom firmware), you make a GAME150 folder inside the PSP folder on your memstick, that is where you put all of your 1.5 compatible homebrew. What switching the kernel does is makes it so you can place your 1.5 homebrew in the GAME folder instead, I believe; It's no biggie or problem of any sort, just an option.

Also, I want to express my gratitude for being self-interneducated on the subject matter at hand. Most people just come here for hand-outs, and you have clearly looked some of the stuff up, or at least browsed the forums here, which is all we ask. Thanks for being a good newb.

Now, if you have more questions I'm sorry but I'm off to bed, but I'm sure some of the other fine folks here can take over.

Thanks al lot Cheezeball99 for your reply! :)
I have successfully upgraded to 3.52M33 and enjoying it a lot!

All my games are running fine as of now, only sometime some game hangs....but most of the things are running fine!!

I have seen many people upgraded to 3.52M33 V2, Should I do that too?....as it seems to be working fine without it.

There's really no reason NOT to, it takes mere seconds. Happy to hear that it all worked out for ya!

Also if you're games a hanging it may well be memory stick problems, eg. a fake. Check it out http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=1035 an orignal mem stick made a lotta my 'hanging' hassles go away.

If it turns out to be original try boosting you're CPU speed in the recovery mode (hold R on boot).

thanks a lot guys for the encouragement about 3.52M33 firmware installation! this helped me to upgrade my TA082 PSP from 1.5 FW to 3.52M33...and now really enjoying it!

but i am little confused about 3.52M33 V2 update installation,
first of all, should i use this update? as 3.52M33 is working fine for all my games (i play only PSP games, no PSX, homebrew, or emulation)

in some description of update installation i found on the net it says,

How to Install M33 Updates: (M33 Firmwares only)
This guide will work with all updates that are released, and will be released.
  • Download the update.
  • Place the update folder in the following directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/'
  • Run the update from your XMB, under GAME > Memory Stick.

but in the readme file of the update it says,

With this release we also a plugin to load pops from 3.40, 3.51, and 3.52.
The plugin works in 3.51 M33 and 3.52 M33. In 3.51 M33 you won't see option "3.51", and in 3.52 M33
you won't see option "3.52" (use original from flash for same firmware).

Instructions: copy seplugins to the root of the memory stick. Extract the following prx of a firmware: /kd/popsman.prx, /kd/pops.prx, /vsh/modules/libpspvmc.prx and /vsh/modules/pafmini.prx and copy them to /seplugins/popsloader/ with names like popsman3XX, pops3XX.prx, libpspvmc3XX.prx, pafmini3XX.prx, where XX is 40, 51, or 52.

Activate the plugin in recovery and done! First time you run a game, it will let you choose pops version.
Next time will remember configuration for each game; press R to change it.

The plugin doesn't apply to psn games.

Team M33

the red colored parts are confusing to me....

1. what are those pafmini3XX.prx etc files? are those used for PS-1, emulations and homebrew only?

i am asking because, i play only PSP games, no PS-1, homebrew, or emulation games.

2. so do i need to install those?

3. in case i am not installing those files, will there be miss match or problems for further updates?

4. while upgrading from 1.5FW to 3.52M33, i had to keep the official sony 1.5 and 3.52 firmwares (renamed) in X:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/folder
i have deleted those files after upgradation,
for installing the 3.52M33 V2 update, do we need to put it back, or only the EBOOT file included in the
M33UPDATE2\M33UPDATE2\PSP\GAME150\M33Update folder would be enough?

sorry if there is any stupid questions, as i am really new to this field. :blushing:

Those files have nothing to do with the update process. It's for popsloader, which is a plugin that allows you to use older PSone emulator versions.

So you don't need to worry about those files.

For the update, all you need to do is extract the archive and copy the PSP folder to your memory stick. If it asks you to overwrite any files, click yes. Then start the update from the Game menu as normal.
