Really, "Dirtbag hackers", a bit harsh imo, at the end of the day, company's are responsible for actually doing the secure part, particularly with the blunder of fuck-ups that sony showed it's security department had made once unveiled.
 
I'm specifically talking about the jerks who actually took money out of other gamers' accounts. So yeah, I think "dirtbags" is actually kind of fitting. That said, I definitely agree that Sony and Microsoft should up their security as much as possible to keep stuff like this from happening.

This is all a bunch of BS. Steam, PSN, <insert random hacked company here> have been hacked the past year but has the PSN suffered? Not as much as you'd expect... It's still doing pretty well according to official reports. Was Steam affected? LOLNO. Steam is healthier than it has ever been and will continue to grow.

The EA CEO is just grasping at excuses that stockholders will believe. According to him then, they are stupid enough to believe this one.
 
KezraPlanes nailed it. It's all about keeping the stockholders happy. Apparently none of them know of Origin.
