The NPD Group has released its hardware and software sales figures for February. Overall, hardware unit sales were up across the board compared to last month's figures. Microsoft maintained its steady lead over the competition, making for a larger gap between Xbox 360 and PS3 sales when compared to January data. The 360 shifted 391,000, while Sony moved 276,000 PS3 consoles. On the other side of the spectrum, Nintendo is still strutting its dominance with Wii and DS sales of 753,000 and 588,000, respectively.[blockquote2]"The U.S. video games industry continues to post strong year-over-year comps despite the tough economy. Unit sales increased even more than dollar sales did, reflecting a slightly lower average retail price for all categories as compared to last year," said NPD analyst Anita Frazier.[/blockquote2]Each month Microsoft keeps gaining ground, proving that the price cut has been considerably effective for them. Is it time for Sony react? I reckon should before the gap widens even larger, but we'll see.[blockquote2]Hardware
