In what can only be described as a slap in the face to Infinity Ward and Activision, the people at DICE and EA have updated their blog with a post poking fun at the "Mapathy" campaign from a few days ago. The second free map pack for Bad Company 2 will be available on March 30th on all platforms to those who have entered their VIP code in game and will include the following:

Arica Harbor Conquest mode - US Command launches a break through action directly at the Russian base[...]

So you mean the old maps with new games launch the same day as all new maps? Not really sure that they have the right to poke fun then. In MW2 all maps can actually be played..ya know..in all game modes to begin with.

The map design in Battlefield is different though. If you put all maps in all game modes, then you will just fuck up the game as certain maps would have HUGE advantage points, match winning advantage points.

This DLC is too close to the game's launch. While they advertise it as free I just see it as parts of the game that should've been included at launch.

That probably why they put it at free, because if people had to pay for this then that would cause an uproar with the community.

Most of the time though to normal, not so knowledgeable gamers, when they hear free DLC is being released, that brings them joy.

I understand that, that's not my point. The point is that they shouldn't be going around talking as if they are bringing something completely new to the table. MW2 is NEW content which makes it worth the price point. Battlefield is getting paid DLC down the line as well, so they're attacks on MW2 don't hold their weight is all I'm saying.

Well so far according to the rumors about MW2 DLC, it is going to include 3 old maps.
One can make the argument that someone shouldn't have to pay for those maps, or atleast make the DLC half priced since those maps are available on CoD4 and if you have that game, why should you pay to have access to those maps. They should just be released as flashback maps and be free, charge for new content only.

But like my other post said, more gamers aren't idk how to explain it, educated? about games like us.
They don't go on fourms, read blogs, etc. They just play games, casual gamers.
So when EA says "Oh we are releasing free DLC", gamers would be like "Sweet, we get free DLC, don't have to pay like those MW2 fans"

That was the point I was trying to make.

I hope they do include some CoD4 favorites in the map pack, but the more I think about it, the more I feel that they'll have to be tweaked to accommodate the new killstreaks.

If you think you were getting camped on Crash at the top spawn before, wait until a harrier, two turrets, and an AC-130 are in the air. (Or spawning in the barn on Overgrown.)

I don't think they'll change much about the maps considering they're using the same engine and want to preserve the old maps as much as possible. They may however come out with a new gametype/playlist that could be "classic" that restricts it to UAV/Precision Air Strike/Support Heli...I would like that a lot actually. All we can do right now is wait and see

Wow, that actually songs like an awesome idea

The maps probably weren't ready by the time the game went gold, so this would be the only thing they could do. If they're free there's no reason to complain anyways.

Not complaining, just saying that their point of attack on MW2 DLC is weak and unsupported

Same here. However EA/DICE have been taking jabs at MW2 from the start of BC2's marketing campaign so it's not too surprising. Doing things like this gets them more publicity.
