While integration across services usually provide a more streamlined experience, should it come at the cost of consumer rights?

One frustrated gamer let off steam on BioWare's forums, posted some derogatory comments, and was slapped with a 72 hour ban. All is well, right? Not so, as the ban impacts all EA services, which left him unable to activate his store-bought copy of Dragon Age II -- the Signature Edition no less.

Is it an oversight on EA and BioWare's part? Apparently not, at least that's what we're led to believe[...]

yea, must agree, a bit too far, it's like saying to the consumer, you've payed 60$ to gain the privilege of playing our game, too which we can deny you anytime, and keep your money.

bullshit

Hence why i've been calling Dragon Age II , the stupidest decision in gaming in years.
Not just for the fact that you HAVE to have online connection.

If I ever bought this game, there'd better be an offline crack.

Not that if you run anything but a decent PC with a High end GPU with DX11 it'll be worth it.

for example my 8800 640mb GTS
which is a DX10 card, you automatically capped at Medium settings and whenever things load in the game (IE the cutscenes) the load time for a simple transition of camera angle can take a few whole seconds.

Now a GTX 460 will run it at max settings and those load times are near non existent.

Man, what were they thinking with this game.

72 whole hours!? How will he survive! Maybe he should have read the terms of use where it clearly states that inflammatory remarks will not be tolerated and can result in this very thing. He should take the hint that no one at bioware cares about his opinion and if he doesn't like their products, get off their forums and quit purchasing their games.

so, you're fine with the fact that at any moment ea and/or bioware can just take the game away from you?

as long as you don't fuck around with them then I don't see this as a problem personally.
Also I bet you won't find any inflammatory comments on their forums for a while now

It may not be a problem for those that can behave themselves, but still, I don't like it. No matter how much of an ass the guy was, it's not right to block him from a product he purchased. There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

permanently I can see a problem but a temporary I don't really see a problem. But I do see how this can be easily abused.
