1.5 to 1.0 Downdater

Instruction for the 1.00 user

1. Copy the downhelper100 folder to /PSP/GAME/ and start the program.

2. The program will dump your flash and your ipl to the memory stick. After it's finished, the program will exit.

3. You should now have a folder labeled DOWNDATER on the root of your memory stick. This is the file that will need to be passed to the 1.50 user.

Instructions for the 1.50 user

1. Copy the two folders __SCE__downdater100 and %__SCE__downdater100 to /PSP/GAME/

2. Get the DOWNDATER folder from someone with 1.00 and put it in the root of your memory stick.

3. Get the official Sony 1.50 update and put it under /PSP/GAME/UPDATE

You are now ready to start the downgrade process. Please make sure that your AC adapter is plugged in and the language of your PSP is set to either English or Japanese.

4) Start the program from your XMB. Do not shut your PSP off or take your memory stick during this process as it will result in a bricked PSP.

5) After a few minutes of red text running across your PSP and your memory stick light flashing, you will be prompted to manually shut down. Do so by holding the power button up until the PSP shuts off.

6) Power on your PSP and if everything went well, you will now have a 1.00 firmware PSP.

  • Load the Pandora 3.XX application on your PSP, from GAME > Memory Stick under the XMB (Main Menu).
    • If you do not have the application on your memory stick, download it from here. After extraction, place the folder named 'pan3xx', in 'X:/PSP/GAME/'.

  • Once finished, exit the application and turn on USB mode.
  • Format your memory stick. Remember to back up any data you wish to keep (ie Savedate).

Downgrade a 3.11 PSP
Downgrading your 3.11 PSP

[FIELDSET="Introduction"]Got a TA-082 with a messed up IDStorage? Don't want to update to 3.50? Been waiting forever for that mysterious 3.11 downgrader Fanjita announced long ago? Well it's finally here, and now you can downgrade, as well as fix your IDStorage if your have a TA-082, and for whatever reason want to go to an official firmware. This downgrader is an adaption of the one already for 3.50, and as such, it needs many of the same things, like Lumines.[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Files Needed"][/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Hardware Needed"]
  • 3.11 PSP (Any Motherboard)
  • USB Cable
  • 128 MB Memory Stick or Higher
  • Europeon or US Version of Lumines
[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Process"]First off, like always, download all the necessary files. If you aren't already at 3.11, then update to it using the 3.11 update EBOOT. To do this, plug in your PSP into USB mode, then copy the 3.11 EBOOT file (named EBOOT.PBP), into the PSP/GAME/UPDATE directory. UPDATE must be in all caps. After that go to the game menu of your PSP, the memory stick icon, then start the app 3.11 Update.

If you already are at 3.11, then download the necessary files, and extract them. In the 3.11 downgrader folder, you should be presented with these sets of files.

I'm on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, so your theme may be different, however the files should be the same.
The SRC folder is the source of the program, and is useless to you unless you're a programmer. The checkworks folder is the check the legitamacy of your EBOOT. However, the MS_ROOT one is the one that'll be helping you do the downgrade. Open the folder, then copy the PSP folder to the topmost part of your memory stick. This is called the root.

The contents of yours may vary.
If your OS asks you to overwrite the contents of the PSP folder, hit OK. You won't lose any of your data.
If you do, then start the app ID STORAGE RESTORER in the game menu. Once you do that, you're done, and are free to update to an official firmware.
Once you do this, rename the 1.50 update you downloaded to UPDATE.PBP. Place this in PSP/GAME/UPDATE, which is the same place where you put the 3.11 update. Don't jump ahead and run it though, you'll get a "Game Could Not Be Started" error.

Your next step is to run Lumines. The game will not start like normal however, and either one of two things will happen.
  1. You get a red screen. If this happens, try again.
  2. You get a blue screeen. This is good, and means you can now downgrade.
Once you get the blue screen, run the X.YZ update in the game menu, under the memory stick icon. You can also check to see if HEN is running, by going to settings, system settings, then system info. It should say 3.11 HEN.

If this is your first time downgrading and you have a TA-082, then the downgrader will ask you to patch your motherboard. Press X. After that, then the downgrader will ask you to assume all responsibility for your PSP, as the downgrader runs the possibility of breaking it. This chance is very very low however, less then 1%.

Press X, and your PSP will start being downgraded.

After it finishes, it will either say your settings are corrupted, in which case you'll have to run the NETCONFIG restore tool under the game menu, or simply press X to restart. Either way, you are now the proud owner of a 1.50 PSP :)[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="FAQ"]My PSP bricked! You suck!
Not my problem, it's your responsibility.
I thought Fanjita said he retired?
Fanjita only retired from high level trust projects. Not to mention this was something he promised long ago.
What are all the other files in my game folder on the XMB?
They are homebrew examples from the PSPSDK. You can use them to make sure HEN is running, but they don't do much. The cube sample is sort of cool though :p
Can I format my memory stick after the downgrade?
Yes.
How can I donate to Noobz?
From their homepage.
