What kind of amp are we talking about?

These are amps designed to drive headphones. Since most higher end headphones have high impedance they need more juice to run optimally, more than what a sound card or portable device like the iPod can provide. I have the iBasso myself. I mean, you can run headphones like the 650 straight out of an iPod, but even at a high volume they'll sound rather laid back in comparison and bass will lack impact/definition. An amp really brings them to life.

This is a plus for Bose though, since you don't need an amp to get the most out of them.

Oh ok, i thought you were talking about line 6s or fenders. stuff like that

ya i have a pair of Sony headphones but not sure what model. and for PC gaming i have a pair of 25$ Logitec's with an insane cord length.( no really its like over 1 1/2 yards like 2 yards....)

My headphones just stopped giving out sound on the right side, I'm looking for a pair of headphones <= €40. Any suggestions? Don't know much about the dos and don'ts of the headphone world.

Just get some standard ipod headphones, if nt that, go for some cheap ones at target or best buy. (skullcandys are your best bet)

Definitely stay away form the iPod earbuds.. they are expensive and their sound quality is terrible compared to other sets in the same price range. For under

I recently bought a Sennhesier HD 202, and all I could say it's playing stuff worthing more than what I paid (42 USD/1500NTD) and it was great. Great bass, just like what x3 said in the first post.

It's kewl, though bring 3m of cable around is pretty discomforting, though the product included a gigantic cable winder lol.

Save $$ for this, great for headphone noobs like me.

Also I was wondering if having a portable amp is needed. My sony mp3 player is such a small piece I wonder if it really has enough gain that I want. How are portable amps?

yea i had som SONY MDR-NC7's but sold those.... i was gonna get some skullcandy headphones(not te ear buds.) but havent gotten around to those yet.

I was gonna look into some ifrogz but wasnt sure if those were any good.
