Hello I'm back... on a worse note

canadajames

Soon to be hardware mod
Well when I was geared up to go to europe for a month with the family I had my psp every accessory I could think of and a full mem stick. When I get onto my 8 hour plus plane ride though I find my down dpad button isnt working right. After a minor fit and some bad words I calmed down. Basically i have played with a semi broke dpad for a month. Well Ive probably screwed something up by mashing it over and over again so I could still play games so I think I deff need a fix job. If I don't find a shop in town or a friend or something does anyone know what I sould do. I was thinking of 2 other options. Fixing it myself which isnt good since I'm not that type of electronics person. Or B I could send it away. Only problem is I don't know what to do about having custom firmware. My idea I thought of for it was getting that psp lock thing so the people at sony wouldnt be able to tell they would still guess probably since It only works on cfw psps but It would reassure me anyone have any thoughts to help me.

Welcome back, CJ! I was kinda wonderin' where you ran off to... Anyway, don't do anything yet, I've seen a self-fix for this kinda thing, I'll post it in a day or so.

If you only screwed up the d-pad you could take off the faceplate yourself and either get a new faceplate or d-pad mind you this would void your warrenty but seeing as though you obviously downgraded you already have there are heaps of guides on the internet of how you take apart your psp I did it to replace my face plate and it's heaps easy undo some screws take off the faceplate put new one on screw back up on.
Mind you that on the face plate has all the buttons on it.
Order one off e-bay and you should be fine.

Wow thanks for all the stuff already well ill start now I dont know if any sotres will fix yet I'm on the search now. And yes i was thinking of fixing myself only a little warry since i kinda broke my ps2 trying to do that when i opened it up the laser was fried anyqays so didnt botther me much but stil. and for the last comment it was more of an issue of sensitivity rather then the button breaking off or something ask for more details if you dont fully understand.

HMMMM that might just work I'll wait a few days and do that if no one else can help me out. ight try opening up an old controller first though to see thx for the recon.

Wow, that was the EXACT one I had bookmarked, supaquickt! Sorry about my wait, CJ, my bad, been busy the past couple days.

I'm thinking of getting the DIY kit for $6. I'm lazy and can't be bothered cutting stuff out for that price, plus its peel stick so you don't need glue or anything.

And yea if you don't get lucky, you'll probably have to replace it, I had sources around here somewhere can't find em at the moment. I'll throw em up if I do.
