Help Making AT3 Files

I've followed the instructions in a guide on the subject, and everything is great until I get to saving the file. I've installed the codec (and tried to reinstall it only to be told that it's already installed), but ATRAC is nowhere in my list of options for "attributes." Can anyone help me out?

I've checked my installed audio codecs under the Windows control panel, and it is listed.

I am running Linux here so can't really test this myself, but noting this part of the tutorial:

[3]"Save as type" = must be in .wav
[4]"Attributes" = ATRAC3 66kbps STEREO(this can be in a higher "kbps" but the song will save in bigger kb.)

did you make sure the "Save as type" box was set to .wav? Because the ATRAC option may only show up for that format.

Also seems that Goldwave 5.00 was used for the original tutorial (now they are at 5.20), so that could be why.

Oldest version I could find was 5.18:

I finally figured out what was going wrong, so I'll post the solution here...for posterity.

When installing the codec, don't use the exe! For some reason, the actual install program completely fails to do its job in a helpful way. The codec will show up as installed under the control panel, but not in any programs. Instead, right click on the .inf file in the unzipped codec folder and select "install." After that, everything is smooth.

In case someone is reading this and has no idea why they should care... Well, aside from Goldwave being a neat way to edit mp3s (if there's a better, I don't know of it, but, then, I didn't know of any way until yesterday), the .at3 files can be set as musical wallpaper for your PS1 games.

Still working on setting music for the emulators, though... For some reason, decompiling the eboots and recompiling them with different music/images doesn't seem to be working. It's still a nice extra for PS1 eboots, though. :)
