Help memory stick problem

kk, I think I corrupted my Memory Stick PRO Duo. I was using CW Cheat on my PSP when it crashed while doing a memory scan, when I plug it in the MS light blinks but the PSP contradicts itself in claiming that "There is no Memory Stick inserted.". I can't get it (or my camera) to format the damn thing and it wont recognize it in order to get my computer to do so. I read that if I buy a card reader then it will read it whether it is corrupt or otherwise, I don't mind spending money on one to fix my memory stick (I found a cheap 28-in-1 for $6) but I don't wanna waste six bucks on something if after all it doesn't fix the issue. If anyone has any info or any suggestions of what I do, I will be very grateful and it goes without saying that I would +rep even for giving an effort in trying to help me.

Well that reminds me, anyone know how to get my computer to recognize its own 2.5mm card reader which stopped working after I got a new motherboard? problem is solved right there if I can get it working.

plug it in correctly?

Put the memory stick in the PSP and connect USB. It'll connect even when the PSP says no memory stick inserted. Worked for me when I corrupted mine doing a difference scan in CWCheat. You can then repair or format it on the PC.
EDIT: You could try connecting USB from the recovery menu if it refuses to connect from the XMB.

If that doesn't work, buy the 28 in 1 card reader, use it, fix the problem, return the card reader saying "you weren't satisfied" and no money was lost.
