Do you mean it freezes when you are in the vsh, or when you are playing the iso?
If the select button in the vsh works, open it and set the driver to m33-driver.
If it still not work, restart the psp, reload ChickHEN and Gen-a and try the iso again.
And then if it still not work, install CFWenabler and try it with this.

i installed gen-a on psp 300* but i cant run iso's and when i press select button it freezes and shuts down?? some tips there.
Use CFWEnabler. It is alot less buggy. And disable plugins which may use Select as the hotkey. And make sure you've put ISOs in the ISO folder. If they still don't work, try converting to CSO and try again. My recommendation is using CFWEnabler which can be found here
