PSP specs and desired xmb files: Slim, 3.71M33-2
I:/ (Psp drive)
SilkDream XMB http://www.consolespot.net/forums/showthread.php?t=828
I have tried my best to follow the instructions, but they have not been fully working out, not to mention my final attempt leading to a brick (TY Pandora).
This is what I have done, and please do tell where I went wrong.
1)Download CXMB, create a cxmb folder, placing it in I:/ then copy cxmb.prx to that folder.
2)Create an SEPlugins folder (which I didn't have) to I:/ . Within this folder, I created the vsh txt document, with the path I:/cxmb/cxmb.prx
3)Booted up in recovery, enabled the plugin.
Everything seems ok till the following steps.
The XMB creator states that you should flash the prx's, which I attempted (may be where the problems start).
4)Dumped my flash0 and kept it safe, then I realized there's a vsh folder with a "resource" and "module" folder both which have content inside. Within the desired XMB zip file, there are also these folders, but with considerably less files than in my flash0 folders. What I did initially was copy the additional files from the XMB's resource and module folders to the flash0's respective folders, and overwrite them when needed. Not sure if that was the right thing to do, as I saw somewhere that these folders should be in flash0:/, not flash0/vsh/.
5)The results of this is a partial xmb (the date and battery life at the top), with my previous PTF theme, and icons, and the alignment is way off (in fact it was pretty much a straight line).
I've tried different variations, some including putting the resource and module folder into the I:/cxmb/vsh... , and also just totally deleting the vsh folder in the flash0 folder and replacing it with decompressed prx files for the XMB vsh folder (which caused the brick).
To sum it all up, I need help figuring out what to do, as I'm a determined person who will try all sorts of things to make it work, which will probably result in many more bricks- hopefully not a permanent one.
P.S- the decompression utility does work for 3.71m33-2 as well right?
