360 how to record xbox 360 gameplay?

could anyone help me so i can record my xbox 360 gameplay.

do i need any special hardware/software.

Most tv tuners have composite cable attachments which allow you to connect game devices to however the quality is poor generally (as compared to component/HD). It's expensive but a good option for HD recording

...What? How would a software update be able to do that, whilst playing games? It's hardware that records it, not software. Not to mention software would make the framerate lower.
