I think I loaded the wrong ChickHEN

Hey guys,
I'm new to all this PSP stuff, but I was reading through and attempted to put ChickHEN R2 onto my PSP3000.

After a while of it not working, I got impatient and found other links to people saying, "Oh, this worked well for me....try this" and so I ended up trying a whole bunch of different methods.

Anyway, I finally got the tiff exploit to work (where you scroll down with the files in the PSP/PHOTO folder), and I went on to attempt to load the Custom Firmware 5.03GEN for HEN-A, but I couldn't find the files that had be supposedly transferred onto my PSP.

I went back, and found that the ChickHEN I tried to load was not the R2. My SystemSettings->System Information tells me I have '5.03 ChickHEN' loaded...whereas videos I've seen say '5.03 ChickHEN R2'. I was hoping to just try the ChickHEN R2 over the top, but now my PSP doesn't recognise any files in the PHOTO folder. Even when I put my own pics there, they can't be seen, and I just get the message:-
"There are no images. You can import content from a PS3 System or a PC......"

I've tried installing 5.03 OFW but it won't let me, saying that I already have it, and I've tried formatting the memory card, as well as restoring factory settings but they didn't work.
Video and Music still work fine....just not pictures.

Any idea what I can do to get the Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN for HEN-A working on my PSP? And to get photos working again too?

Thanks in advance.

I did that and it they still don't show up. I also tried putting them in ms0:/PICTURE/ which usually also works, but it didn't.

Now I'm on 5.03 with what I think is ChickHEN R1, or just the base ChickHEN, can I find a way to downgrade firmware, then start again from scratch?

try to Cold boot or turn off your PSP., then your photos will show up again and then try chickhen R2!!., while in Chickhen you can't show your photos!!

if you cold boot or turn off your psp while in Chickhen!, it will revert back into 5.03 OFW!!.:p

Sweet, thanks for that. Just to clarify, is a cold boot when you hold the On/Off Switch to completely turn it off?

Also, once I have ChickHEN R2 on there, should I install the Custom Firmware Enabler, or the Custom Firmware 5.03GEN for HEN-A? I'm looking at running my ISO backups, and don't know the best, and safest way to go about it.

I would go for the CFE if it was mine.........

Awesome, thanks guys. The cold boot worked perfectly.
Now with ChickHEN R2 loaded, I put CFE onto the memory card and see it show up in the XMB.
I chose that and it came up with the Black screen and white text, and I pressed X to 'Run with Custom Firmware'.
I was returned to the XMB and now System Information says I'm running System Software 'Version 5.03'.
Does this mean I now have the Custom Firmware Enabler working properly?
How do I run things on my memory card now, like my ISO backups and other homebrew apps?

Sorry for being a noob with all this, I've tried to find the answers online but everything kind of assumes some knowledge about all of this, and I've never touched it before.

Ooops, my mistake.... Turns out I backup out of ChickHEN and was on the OFW...

Anyway, now I have ChickHEN up, and I've got into the CFE 3.5, it says 'Flash and Start', however I've read everywhere 'Don't flash your PSP-3000 with CFW because it will brick your PSP.... I'm guessing however the CFE is safe and I can do this?

Sorry for the questions...I really just want to avoid bricking my PSP.

Well, there hasnt been a report of a brick using CFE to flash files, so i think its ok. however, DO NOT USE OTHER PROGRAMS TO FLASH FILES, it will brick. if you have any questions about flashing, ask here first.

Awesome, it worked perfectly. Thanks heaps for that, I really appreciate everyone's help.
I'll try to be very careful about what I run, but I'll probably just stick to my own backup isos anyway.

Thanks again.

OK, I'm almost there. Now I'm looking at the final step....dumping the UMD iso onto my memory card.
I've found a UMD Dump program, but how can I be sure if it's safe or not for the PSP-3000?
It has an EBOOT.PBP file which I assume I copy to the directory listed in the rar (PSP/GAME/UMDDUMP), but how can I know for sure that this won't brick the PSP?

The program is UMD Dumper v0.2.0 which I found on psphacks.com. If this isn't safe, can someone recommend a UMD Dumper program for the PSP-3000?
