Just Downgraded a 2.82 to 1.50 - whats the best approach to get devhooks on
as i have read quite a few posts but not sure what devhooks etc i need to install,
also is there any good auto installers that i should check out

any help grateful i would rather ask than brick my psp

DH is kinda oldschool, you just need 3.10oea (not so much customizable) or 3.03 oea (customizable)

Check the guides:)

OE firmware does what DH does.

yeah, 3.10 OE-A flashes your firmware. it retains all capabilities of 3.10, plus homebrew support, iso loading, etc.
 
Wallpaper?

If you mean change your wallpaper, you can load an appropriate picture on your memory stick and set it as your wall paper the same as in any firmware.
If you want to customize your topmenu you need 3.03OE-C
