Legalization of Marijuana/Hemp

that just made me think of the drunk businessmen here in tokyo... very common, and often hilarious! they are rather functional though, able to get where they need to go on the massive network of trains, and stay standing while riding them lmao!

I think yes, wait, no, wait wait its a NO

I'd rather be locked in a concrete room with no windows with the worlds biggest Hannah Montant fan, than spend 2 minutes with a fucking pothead.

I love Hannah Montana (well, Miley Cyrus) so dont offend her. She ain't done nothing wrong

On Topic: I think it should be legalised because then all those dick heads will be happy, but others wont because there will be more deaths, so maybe just legalise for medical purpose's only, either way, if anything changes, more lives will be lost so now im contradicting myself (oh i used a big word! xD) and now saying it should only be legalised for medical purpose.

Very little additional lives would be lost. Marijuana does have some toxic chemicals in it (even the clean stuff), but even still, Marijuana is far less harmful than the current legal drugs/alcohol. There's currently no proof linking it to cancer, although it does cause similar health effects as a chronic smoker would have (darkened lungs, dry mouth, esophagus-linked problems). I really don't believe the loss of life would be that significant though except for the people that choose to smoke it nearly every day, which sounds much like cigarette smokers. You indirectly did raise a point though, and that is that perhaps more people will be enticed in wanting to use marijuana since it's less harmful than say cigarette's for example (as long as the govt doesn't lace it with additional chemicals) and the effect it has on you is definitely a good feeling effect so more people may be swayed in using it.

It's the people like you that make people think that marijuana is horrible.
I like when people post without reading.

I'm sorry, but I think the legalization of Cannabis/Hemp falls under a much more serious topic than just "making the fucking potheads happy". It's about legalizing something that has never ONCE been scientifically linked to any kind of health problem other than temporary impairment. For those of you who say that "marihuana, the Devil's weed" (Reefer Madness propoganda) actually does have some kind of detrimental effect on health, please cite a published, respectable source. If you can't, then please don't say anything about it.

Thank you.

P.S.- Yes, "Marihuana", not marijuana. It's (or alteast was, lawls) a mexican slang word.

I think it's becoming quite evident that abusing it leads to paranoia and other more serious situations. 2 friends of mine. 1, he just took too much of everything in a short amount of time and had some next fit. 2, he was just on weed, all day every day. I think he didn't wake up one day so they took him to hospital. 3 years later he's still on mental stabilizers and he is REALLY slow (mentally).

If you're abusing the stuff there is a very large chance it will affect you in the long run. HOWEVER, I still think that a 10 bag a night is fine without any consequences.

@Slasher, Weed itself doesn't link directly to lung or any type of cancer as of yet. Most people though like to grind tobacco into their mix. The only way weed (alone) could lead to cancer is if you're smoking DIRT cheap bud that has been caked in silicone sand.

I never said it is linked to cancer, I just said that it can cause similar problems as cigarette smokers have which are mostly esophagus/respiratory-linked problems. Nobody can honestly tell me that blowing any form of smoke into your lungs is "good" or "neutral" to your health. It obviously has some negative effects to your health, even if they are little.

Here's a few examples,

It's not like Marijuana doesn't have its negative health effects.

This isn't aimed at you, but I just hate it when marijuana smokers sit there and tell me smoking marijuana isn't bad for their health whatsoever. What a ridiculous misconception. It may not lead to cancer like cigarettes do, but it certainly leads to all sorts of other things.

Not true at all. Do some research, and read what I put up there.

I wouldn't take it as aimed at me, mainly due to the fact that wasn't my point :p
Obviously smoking anything is detrimental to your health. I'm on your side here. Hence the little anecdotes.

Slasher: THANK YOU!!!! You are the FIRST person who has ever called my bluff, and it pisses me off when people think that cannabis problems are all "common sense". I do alot of research as to the health effects of the plant, but no one else seems to, so I can usually get away with that;) Now I will respond to some of your sources:

1: Yes, smoking cannabis can lead to gum disease. Completely agreed, although that doesn't stop cigar smokers(in which the risk is higher)

2:I had always been under the impression that the heart-attack problem was from an increase in release of norepinephrine which lowers blood pressure (up to 4 times more likely to have a heart attack, if I remember correctly) But I find something wrong with this- the participants smoked 78 TO 350 JOINTS A WEEK! Holy shit! Thats alot of weed, and I'm sure you know this as well.

3:This one kinda made me chuckle :) The problem I see with this test is that the people were already, on their own, being tested for testicular cancer. This was not a completely controlled test, just some researchers asking guys if they smoked while they were having their balls fondled by an old man. Also, the line "In the absence of more certain information" makes me further question this study.

4: They haven't studied this one properly yet, so I won't say anything other than "Don't swallow the damned smoke!"

5: This is quite interesting. However, his study is not well done. It was also not controlled. As I recall, there was a disorder that had these same symptoms that also lead to an increased risk of impulsive cannabis smoking... ADHD ring a bell? Although this cannot rulew out all of the results of the study, only about 40-60%. There also seems to be something missing from this study... Statistics of any kind? How many people took part? How many of them actually had these problems? Were there an equal number of each sex? Were they all the exact same age? Did they all smoke for the same time period? Were they all smoking the same kind of weed? Did they all know that this test was funded by NIDA, who spent billions of tax dollars to make silly cartoons about talking dogs and girlfriend-stealing aliens who for some reason like to plant flags all over the place? Terrible, terrible study.

Oh yeah, and THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU once again for not being another ignorant dumbshit like so many before you (not necessarily on this topic, but just FRICKEN everywhere) :)
