Looking for decent earbuds

Robby

Los Doyers!
Well I am looking for some decent earbud headphones. I have a budget of $200.
I have some Beats Studio by Dre but they are too big for outdoor activity. I need something that has good bass and I can pump up the volume without worrying about it blowing out.

I mainly use iPod earbuds but they always blowout within a couple weeks.

Sennheiser IE7. They can be had on eBay for ~$140. Blows everything in the $100-350 price bracket away.

Wtf? People pay like 140 for earbuds? 5-10 dollar earbuds have always suited me really well, couldn't imagine paying anything close to that. I just can't see the advantage these 140 earbuds offer over 10 dollar ones, that would warrant spending that much money. I'm actually curious, what makes them worth so much.

It's all about sound quality. $5 earbuds like you describe sound horrible; at least, in comparison to the much more expensive ones.

Like xploren said, it all depends on how serious you are about sound quality. It's no different than dropping a couple grand on an expensive speaker setup.

I've always just stuck with the cheapest ones because I've never thought there was anything wrong with the sound quality, so I was always skeptical on how much better they could get.

@ Spiros I used to be that guy as well, I spent that 10 bucks on Jvc Gummeys or Those Sony fashion headphones*( each 10 bucks a pop) have them break every 3-4 months and get another pair, then I got a pair of Skullcandy FMJ I tried them out and dident see what the big deal is also felt they where a bit uncomfortable and just went back to the 10 bucks headphones, then after a few months I bought some Lady gaga beats and while after 4 hours of music playback my ears started to hurt they just sounded so much better then my Gummeys that I kept using them. After a good 300 hours of burning the headphones in they felt alot better, then I got a new phone( Epic 4g) so I needed a mic with headphones and went back to Skullcandy FMJ that feel so much better then when I first tried them on and I rock them everywhere. The main advance I have with the 100+ headphones is the fact that these headphone cable are long and dont tangle, with the JVC I spent the first 5-10 mins untangling the headphones, with the beats or FMJ they never tangle at all and I no longer need to replace them every few months.

I used to be like you, then I got a decent headset, Beats Studio by Dre and my entire knowledge on sound quality changed knowing that you can have music sound so much better.

The Sennheiser IE7/8 for very powerful bass and noise isolation. For extended wear IEMs the Klipsch x5/x10i is very comfortable.

No, I really think most people have inferior hearing and other senses. I'm always dumbfounded when I witness someone unable to pinpoint the location of a sound in a game on a 5.1 system. I would have scored a headshot though the wall the very next second. I can't tell the difference in quality between any displays that cost say $1000 upwards, other than noticing that the image on each one is just...different. I can however instantly spot quality difference in the contents of the image itself, regardless of the display quality. Hence I prefer a powerful GPU to max out AA/AF over a better display. On a slightly related note my I see a slightly more orange tinted image with my left eye.
