What are some good magazines you folks read, or subscribe to? It doesn't have to be video game related, I just want to get some more stuff to read, and having them delivered to my mailbox caters to my lazy nature.

Anyway... Indulge me gentlemen.

I used to get national geographic. it actually is a really interesting magazine, well, most the time. I would still get it, but i keep forgetting to sign back up.

Oh yeah, you should also try out LEGO magazine[/sarcasm]

I get New Scientist and National Geographic, both good reads.

I also get Private Eye but I don't know how widely distributed that is.

Anyway they're all good for people who are intellectually minded.

I currently myself just get PSN and Game Informer. Parents get a bunch of random ones, but also get like Gold Digest, and National Geographic.

But while were on this topic, my moms friend, had collected RollingStone magazines since the early early 70's. Well about 1 year ago, his water heater in his basement bursted and leaked all over, in which ruined and destroyed all the magazines he had collected, along with other stuff.

I use the internet if I need any news. DOn't see the point of magazines when all the info is freely available.

Most periodicals don't specialize in delivering news. Most try to deliver more dense and thought out articles.

You're right, if I just want snippets, I'll goto the internet, but I also like something a little more in depth, and that's where books and magazines come in.

I used to have a subscription to PSM3, but ever since i got my RSS feed working properly, i've noticed that every article I was reading on the net, was being regurgitated into the magazine 3 months later.

Wired is very good. Edge is an awesome gaming magazine, get it while you still can (if you can). I get Motor Trend too.

I wanted to get Edge really badly, but it's a UK magazine, so a yearly subscription in the US is about $100.

I don't know if you're saying that jokingly, but I was seriously thinking about getting playboy. There are some surprisingly good articles in there.

Playboy is hardly an erotic magazine anymore. Its mostly ads and articles rather than pictures. And the articles aren't even that good, or a copy and paste from before. Its an all around dieing magazine

At least LEGO magazine was free. And sometimes there will be some interesting things 8 year olds have made.

Any good sports magazines you know of? I'd rather steer away from ESPN, and SI.

I was thinking about Wired though.

Nope. I stopped reading SI a while ago, but got back into it again. I think it's improved over the last year.

EDGE and NewScientist are good. I'm currently subbed to NewScientist, almost did EDGE but never did.

:)

Is National Geographic good?

Don't really get many magazines myself.

My neighbour subscribes to auto express and then passes them on to me when he's done.

Occasionally I'll buy Custom PC, Micro Mart, Max Power, Fast Car or OPM UK. But only if there's a feature or something that really interests me.

It has it's good articles every once in a while. i usually go through each one 3 times, reading the things that look interesting. each time i find something that i somehow overlooked the last look through.
