Might get a PSP-2000 (slim), a few questions

I haven't heard anything about the red one reguarding it's board version but if its a V1 thats good, I checked Walmart's site and they do have the red one for $200, Futureshop has the piano black which is supposed to up there with the silver in reguards to their board version being TA-085 - TA-088v2 for $170. Whatever you do do not get the Maddan (I think its called) blue as thats the latest slim to come out and I already heard about almost every one being a TA-088v3.

Some Madden ones were V1s, then alot more were V2s, and the latest are v3s.

But Yeah, i know to avoid Madden PSPs, but thanks for the tip. The Piano black ones are v3s (or v2) where I live. The shipment date was 08/25/2008 for them. the Daxter ones don't exist at the Wal-Mart where I live too.

I might be getting a Red V1 or a Silver TA-085 V2 Refurbished from Gamestop.

and can refurbished PSPs be downgraded?

or do they send the broken PSP back to Sony to get it "patched" and fixed?

Refurbished ones are downgradeable the same way as a new one as long its not a TA-088v3, usually refurbished anything has had a problem has been marked as "fixed" but I generally dislike going for refurbished electronics. The most Sony would of done beside fix whatever problem it had would be update it's FW to 4.05 which is fine as long as its not a TA-088v3.

EDIT: Depending on the problem, Sony could of also replaced the entire motherboard that was once a nice, lets say TA-088v1, to the evil TA-088v3. In general going for a refurbished PSP is increasing your risk of getting that non-friendly CFW/Pandora board.

well, i might buy one, and if its not a V1. i'll return it.

I'll just tell them i didn't like it, so i'll get a full refund. :P

I can always get a Daxter or Star Wars one. Those are discontinued, so they are TA-088 V2 and lower.

but i have my mind ( and heart) set on a TA-088 V1 God of War PSP; but I can always get a Daxter Silver one that is TA-085 V2 as an alternate.

The people that work at the Gamestop near me are people who know barely anything about consoles, (they just work to get paid) and I think they do not know about Pandora exploit. ;P

btw, you asked what app I was developing.
Answer: That's a secret.

But if I release the app in the future, can you be my tester before i release it?

Iam doing some digging around my city for the Daxter silver as a alternate if the piano black one I get is a v3, sort of hard to find but a few game stores around have some. Haven't seen any God of war PSPs around here yet, oh well. Should be getting the money anyday now.. my b-day is on Friday and its b-day money :D, and sure I will like to be a tester for your app.

ok, today i bought a GOW PSP form Gamestop and it downgraded, yay.

it can go only to 3.71 m33 and higher

3.60 m33 bricks it.

and do you know where to get a stuck pixel fixer. I found one and it bothers me.

once i compile my app, i'll send it to you.

I think you should wait and see. In a month of time PSP-3000 will be released. And there are high chance its crackable as it has Factory Mode.

PSP-3000 is far better for quality gaming, so if you don't care much about ingame quality you can get PSP-2000.

Nice at least its not a v3, I am going to say you got a TA-088v1 as 3.71 is the lowest it will run, correct?

Did a quick search for stuck pixels and came up with this: http://www.driverheaven.net/gaming-discussion/76824-psp-stuck-pixel-fixer-wooot-well-60-you.html Give it a try, hope it works. I never had to use any pixel fixers as my phat has no stuck pixels.

yeah, it bricks on 3.60 OFW and 3.60 M33. I think they were installed wrong. That is why it bricked. :crying:

As of right now, it only runs 3.71 m33 and higher. TimeMachine Loads good too.

and btw, GigaByte, my app is compatible with the TA-085 V2 and TA-085, so if you have a Phat PSP or TA-088 V1 or V2 it will bRiCk!! so you can only test it if you have a TA-085 v1 or v2.

And vp10120: The PSP-3000 has Factory Mode; its just that the IPL on MemoryStick must be signed/encrypted by Sony.

TA-088 V1

GigaByte, you can test my app. Turns out it is compatible with TA-088 V1. :w00t:
And 3.60 M33 works on my V1. :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Turns out it was an IPL+MagicStick problem.
So if you have a V1, you can test my app out once i compile it.

Sounds like we need a new tool for that. And would be illegal. :(

And vp10120, you're right. New tool like a... firmware exploit?

Been busy lately, but it turned out I didn't get enough $ for a Slim:crying: Oh well.. around X-mas time then, assuming the Brite (3000) is still unhacked. My phat has a TA-086, is that able to run your application (I assume no)? Its running 5.00M33 as well.

the app I was making, not really done though.

its for TA-085, TA-085 V2, and TA-088 V1. PSP-2000 only.

it bricks all PSP Phats. Period. Dont even attempt. Your PSP wont boot the IPL and your Phat will have some PSP Slim idstorage keys, so dont attempt it, please.

it wont load on a TA-088 V2 (because new CPU dont run ELF menu. or DC5)
If i rewrite it to 4.xx kernel, then it will work on a V2.
it wont work on a PSP-3000 or a v3 Slim for sure.

btw, nice to see you here at the forums again.

Oh well, whenever I do get my slim I hope its a 88v1, 88v2 as last choice, 88v3 gets returned:laugh:

Thanks for the welcome back:smile:

I recommend a v1 the most or just a TA-085 V2. They can load DC1-DC7.

Get a TA-088 V2 when you are very desperate.
Avoid a v3, instead just enjoy your PSP-1000 until you get enough money for a PSP Slim.

If you go to Pennsylvania in the USA, there are alot of TA-085 V2s, TA-088s, and TA-088 V2s. :w00t:

There are V3s in Pennsylvania, but not that common.

In fact i think there are alot more PSP-3000s in my couunty than there are v3s.

Well I went to HMV today with my fingers crossed and got a GOW Slim since I had a $20 gift card so it was a great deal. Since I haven't heard of a V3 GOW Slim yet I decided to get that over the orignal black one, plus it looks nicer:laugh: I rushed home and turned it on, it had OFW 3.95, once I saw that I was like "whew" not a TA-088 V3. CFW 4.01M33 installed with no problem and updating to 5.00M33 as I speak, I think its a V2 as DC7 loaded fine while trying to boot DC3/4/5 with Ultimate Loader (I use UPT 5.0.2 from PSP4Noobz) resulted in black screen. On the side of the box the number is 98892.

Quite happy right now:laugh::laugh:

The majority of GOW Slims are V1 and V2.

i have not ever seen a V3 GOW Slim with my eyes.

Well, V1 Slim is better because it can load UPT and every DC(1-7)

as long as you dont have a V3, thats good. :w00t:

And good work avioding Black Slim, its V3 for sure. I remember V3s first appeared in around August where i live.

And its November now, so the chance of getting the V3 is high for the Slim.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the Slim PSPs that can be hacked for sure:

1. PSP White "Star Wars" Limted Edition (TA-085 V1, TA-085 V2, TA-088 V1)

2. PSP Silver "Daxter" Entertainment Pack ( TA-085 V1 , TA-085 V2, TA-088 V1, TA-088 V2)

3. PSP Red "God of War" Entertainment Pack ( TA-085 V1, TA-085 V2, TA-088 V1, TA-088 v2)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stay Away From or Be Careful With these PSPs:

1.PSP "Piano Black" (Some are hackable, some aren't. Be careful when selecting one at the store.)

2.PSP Blue "Madden NFL" Entertainment Pack ( Mostly TA-088 V2 and TA-088 V3)

3. Refurbished PSPs (Motherboard could have been swapped at repair center.)

I got ultimate loader to boot on my new Slim, somehow I screwed up on my first attempt and caused it to not boot. I ran DC3 to install 3.71 OFW and it worked! For some reason it refused to boot with the pandora battery installed after I installed 3.71, then I thought it was the kernal refusing to run on the 88v2 board, but just before I went back to DC7 to unbrick I tried booting with the normal slim battery and there it went. Ran DC3 and is running 3.71 OFW right now, looks like I actually have a TA-088v1 after all (came with 3.95 installed) :)

If you are still willing to let me test your app you are making I am still willing to.

For PSP Slim, here are good CFWs:

3.60 M33

3.90 M33-3

4.01 M33-2

and that app, i forgot about it, it can't compile it, get too much errors when trying.

well, whenever I finish it, i'll tell you.
