Well with the upcomming post of Ms MasteR (tomorrow) I thought i would start a thread to report the results in so people thinking about getting more Ms can research actual results.

256 meg Black Sony Ms pro duo
read 12.5 MB/sec
write 2.941176 MB/sec

1 gig SanDisk Ms pro duo
read 12.5 MB/sec
write 5.555555 MB/sec

2 gig Sandisk Ms pro duo
read 12.5 MB/sec
write 5.555555 MB/sec

All my results are using a Ms reader usb1.0 not the psp. Theyre a little higher then the psp gets.

2GB SanDisk (clear blue) in the PSP via USB2:

Your Ms reads at aprox 10 MB/second
And it writes at aprox 5 MB/second

1gb sandisk benchmark results

this was tested on my MacBook through Parallels. works quite well.

Your Ms reads at aprox 6.25 MB/second
And it writes at aprox 1.612903 MB/second

posting on psp-hacks now. :)

thanks XsavioR

all good, I actually use this. I spend a lot of time in parallels, especially with the latest version and their ultra cool coherence mode.

Anyway, appreciate the work & updates! Keep it up.

Benchmark

Black SONY 4GB PRO DUO - EBAY purchase - must be a knock-off :( At least now it is confirmed...

Your Ms reads at aprox 6.25 MB/second
And it writes at aprox 2.173913 MB/second

Black SONY 2GB PRO DUO - EBAY purchase

Your Ms reads at aprox 7.142857 MB/second
And it writes at aprox 1.851852 MB/second

yeah with a 4gb stick you should notice some pretty quick speeds ( when empty , it slows down as the ms fills).

Sorry to confirm the bad news bud but hell atleast ya know now forsure. Your 2 gig is right on par though. Might look into usb2.0 to make those even better too.

First try results:

Fake Sony HIGH SPEED 2GB

MagicGate: Unknown

Via Reader w/ MSAC-M2 Adapter
Read: 4.166667 MB/s*
Write: 2.173913 MB/s

Via PSP on USB 2.0

Write: 2.272727 MB/s

Sandisk Mobile (Blue) 512MB

Via PSP on USB 2.0

Write: 5 MB/s

*Looks like my card readers maximum read speed is 4.166667 MB/s

Nice what brand was that ms reader so others dont land up buying it...

It's the built-in multi-reader on the HP SE L2000 laptop, the exact same reader is also on the Compaq V2000 laptops...

Some kind of standards...

I've been sitting on these results for a while... I was actually planning to make a great big list and possibly even charts of results from other memory sticks borrowed from friends but I'm too busy/lazy...
Anyway, all tests were run in Ms Master 2.04b on an HP L2000 laptop.
The memory sticks were freshly formatted in the PSP before each test, and tested through the PSP on USB2.0.
Each test was run three times and all results posted occurred two or three times out of three.

SanDisk Mobile (Blue) 512MB
User Capacity: 468MB
MagicGate: Supported
Read: 8.333333 MB/s
Write: 4.545455 MB/s

Sony HIGH SPEED 2GB
User Capacity: 1919MB
MagicGate: Supported
Read: 8.333333 MB/s
Write: 5.555555 MB/s

Fake Sony HIGH SPEED 2GB (BYI)
User Capacity: 1919MB
MagicGate: Unknown
Read: 6.25 MB/s
Write: 2.272727 MB/s

Fake Sony HIGH SPEED 2GB
User Capacity: 1956MB
MagicGate: Unknown
Read: 3.333333 MB/s
Write: 4.166667 MB/s

SanDisk Ultra II 4GB
User Capacity: 3904MB
MagicGate: Supported
Read: 8.333333 MB/s
Write: 5 MB/s

NOTE: I eliminated my results from the card reader since they were all slower, however judging by my max read speed of 8.3MB/s on all my real memory sticks I'd say that the controller in this laptop is pretty slow and still bottlenecking my results...

To test transfer speeds?

What can I use to test a High Speed adapter?? I'm importing a High Speed Adapter Pro duo that's capable of holding two MicroSD/SDHC cards. I'd like to test the speed of the adapter whilst playing games etc... is there any app I can use? Has DAX written anything?

I plan on importing, but I need to obviously get my ducks in a row. Help? :w00t:

Theres an app called black speed(I think thats the name) that runs speed tests and even has a comparison with official sony 32mb and 1gb sticks.

I'll look for it. I'm going to be testing a High Speed Adapter that's able to take 2 MicroSD/SDHC cards. It's capable of taking a max of 32GB's. I think someone posted on eXophase already about this adapter.

I'm going to buy two 8GB MicroSDHC cards. Just want to test the speeds... some people are trying to persuade me that it's crap etc.

Ok didn't know how you guys where checking read and write speed so i just download blackspeed v.2.0 on my psp slim(2001) here are my results.

Sony 1gig
read=8mb
write=6mb
Performance Index= 362

Sony Mark2 4gig
read=12mb
read=10mb
Performance= 413

Lexar Platinum 2 4gig
read=16mb
write=12mb
Performance Index= 903

If their is a better way to get read and write speeds please tell me i will rerun tests it would be helpful. Then we could have standardized format we could use to compare results this to be more helpful I think. My results for the sony 1gig where slower then blackspeed says they should be was wondering if it is one of the fakes shouldn't be because it came with the psp when i bought it (daxter version)

P.S I know its lexar i was broke and it was only $24 but i have been impressed with the speed and results so far and feel they need looking into especially for the price. Will be buying some sandisk ultra 2 8gig sticks soon they just went on sale at best buy for $24 too.
