Speaking in a recent Q&A session, executive producer Rod Fergusson revealed that the next title update for Gears of War 2 is slated to go live on March 24. Additionally, the Snowblind Map Pack, which consists of four all-new locales: Grindyard, Under Hill, Courtyard and Fuel Depot, is slated to hit on March 31. Pricing has not yet been announced, but it is expected to cost 800 MS Points if history is any indication.

The title update highlights the introduction of an experience-based ranking system, bringing with it 100 skill levels. The TrueSkill system of old will still be used to "set up the most competitive matches possible" but will be hidden to players. Along with the update comes new, attainable achievements. Upon reaching certain skill level milestones, players will be awarded in the form of an achievement, which are as follows:[blockquote2] * Rookie Gear (Level 5)
* Seasoned Gear (Level 15)
* Battle-Tested Gear (Level 25)
* Battle-Hardened Gear (Level 50)
* Veteran Gear (Level 100)
* Four yet-to-be-announced achievements
