yeah that's what I was confused about.... from what I read into what he (Mathieu) was saying it kinda sounded like he meant the hen wouldnt need to be loaded on startup...

The recovery mode works perfectly (tested and approved) Now we have a recovery mode I can try several manipulation as mainstream in flash cfe therefore each restart of psp cfw will be enabled so no more need to activate a chickHEN each start of the psp. I'm tring to integrate every function of a m33 to be a Complete CFW

In this case with the CFE, it's booting only temporarily into a cfw-like environment. The memory gets wiped once you turn your PSP off. I'd hardly call it custom firmware since that's technically not what it is.

In that case everything prior to 3.60M33 isn't a custom firmware either lol. They all booted with the 1.50 IPL and minimal kernel before launching 3.XX. Only difference was there was no exploit needed to load the 3.XX immediately. It stil technically rebooted to OFW 1.50 on power off.

If it's about the recovery menu, well I have no idea how that would even be possible without the pre-ipl being cracked. There's no way you can get a TA-088v3 or TA-092v2 to boot anything upon starting up without there being a custom ipl... and a custom ipl isn't possible without first cracking the pre-ipl.

About it... The Pre-Ipl was needed to install a CFW on PSP. What he said that he accomplished seems a little different. It's like he, somehow, triggered the CFW status uppon the OFW at the PSP start.
Still, that what it looks like from a newbie point of view.

The recovery won't be the same as regular CFW.Normally the M33 IPL detects the R trigger directly using syscon driver in IPL before anything has even loaded and proceeds to load a different minimal module list after IPL itself.

This is impossible as of now. It wouldn't even recover from a semibrick if you damage something
They can still launch the recovery menu independently though just for changing settings and stuff..

You can't load anything before the OFW loads without a custom ipl on the tricky motherboards. In order to have a custom ipl on a TA-088v3 or a TA-092v2 motherboard, it would require the pre-ipl to first be cracked. There's no way this guy cracked the pre-ipl, therefor there's no way he can load a recovery mode upon startup or even start up his supposed cfw without first accessing ChickHEN.

Like Torch said, he can probably access the recovery menu after loading up ChickHEN, but there's no way he can access it upon startup to recover from semibricks or anything like that.

I wasn't saying that he did it before the OFW. What i was pointing is that maybe he somehow triggered the code exec AFTER the loading of the OFW. Still, i don't know that much about Mips, Assembly e/or the PSP Arch, so i don't really know if that's possible.

What I said applies to both things you're stating. There's no viable flaws in the current firmware ipl's that would allow this to happen. I know the 1.50 ipl had a flaw that allowed the running of unsigned prx's, but that was immediately fixed. There's no way to currently get code to run upon startup without a custom ipl :)

How's that even possible without hacking the ipl and the pre-ipl :huh:
And about the cfwe creators-they should have written that they have used GEN modules I agree but you can't tell that they haven't done anything themselves.I think that they didn't want just steal some fame for themselves and everyone with some brain in his head knows without s.o say him that 99% ot he modules are been written before them but what's the point to write the modules twise.
I hope Davee would make R3 because it's very important update and won't leave the HEN because of this story:confused:
 
Well Davee can continue the development of his R3 HEN.But the burning truth behind it is more people will probably stick with CFE for 2k and or 3k.

No iso/cso/cfw on the 3k?

as i heard form this guy eldiablov he said Davee is undecided on cancelling HEN at this moment. I have gotten into contact with the CFW enabler developers and one of them are considering not adding ISO support into the PSP 3000 revision is this true i hope not
 
They will. CFW is all about ISO support. If they want plugins, they'd wait for Davee to release ChickHEN R3. What else can CFW be for if not plugins, ISOs, PSXs? :|

Question:
For those who does know alot about firmwares and psp programmation,
how hard, compared to making the CFWE for 2000, will be making a CFWE for 3000?
I doubt it has the same difficulties or these guys would have just included it, i just wanna know if it is MUCH harder or simply a little more complicated.
 
good news to know this won't come out for the 3k... It's obvious the only one who knows enough to make that work on the 3k is Alex (aside from all the coders here but they all oppose this travesty) and he could care less about it...
 
I still have faith there will eventually be one for the 3k.

They did not say it would not come out....They said it is undecided.
