For those holding out for a status update on the latest efforts of team M33, Dark-AleX.org site administrator Alek has confirmed that are currently "no plans" to develop a custom firmware based on 5.50.

Of course, that does not mean future custom firmware releases are a done deal, only that Alex feels this one is worth skipping out on. Released late last month, 5.50 brought sub folder support for media files and integration of a PS3 esque PSN news ticker.

ChickHEN considerations [Sceners]

I can see his point, but i always welcome another M33 release :)

Then could we get a plugin with this functionality instead? (the folder aspect, don't care about the ticker) I myself find the support very useful. I use my psp as my primary media player, but the psp doesn't have a playlist system, so I have to scroll through 300 titles to find the one I want, even with the fast scroll plugin this takes a while. With a plugin sporting this functionality I could actually organize my videos and music in groups that I use everyday. That would be very beneficial to me and many others.

I don't see how this "Makes perfect sense".
Custom firmware is for those with hacked boards, not those on T88v3's or 3K's. I know I would love the new features of 5.50 on my hacked slim, and I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of CFW users would too.

Well update to it, tinker with it, then get bored and miss homebrew then d/g back to M33
lol
its kinda poitless to be honest of this to be M33 cause all the games work, except psn, but im sure the will be a prx to work around it.

^ WTF? You don't understand what Sub-folder support is.

I think it's a shame we're skipping 5.50 M33, I was waiting for subfolder organization for alsmost three years... Bah...

Sony might release a 5.51 or 5.60 to patch the kernel exploit that ChickHEN uses, only then maybe a M33 could be released.

If i only have the talent to hack, don't you think it will be a challenge to hack those who have upgraded their PSP to OF5.50

It seems obvious to me that one of 2 things have happened:
1. Sony pay-offs to "developers" to stop the"developing"
2. strong Sony threats

Either way, I think it spells the end for custom firmware

So in the end, conclusion is if u want to play all the latest games u gotta change to > version .
