Developer Notch has announced that his immensely popular world-creation title Minecraft will receive a fright-filled update next month on October 31, just in time for Halloween.

Presented in a style reminiscent of Valve's TF2 updates, the revelation comes by way of a flyer posted on the official Minecraft site.

Touted is a scary new locale separated by a portal that allows for "fast travel," additional crafting recipes, spooky music, several multiplayer bug fixes, and to further add to the eerie atmosphere, torches that go out after a certain amount of time has elapsed.

Ever since the Penny Arcade/ Kotaku coverage this game has been selling really well everyday (its dieing down a bit now, but it's still selling at the very least $80,000 a day). I'm hoping that this Halloween update also brings in a bigger discount than the 50% alpha price

How cheap are you? You're going to get more life out of this than most $60 games, can you really not afford like $14?
