NVIDIA announced today that its popular PhysX technology is now available to all registered PS3 developers free of charge. Used in titles such as Unreal Tournament 3 and Rainbow Six Vegas, the SDK sports a feature-rich API and robust physics engine. Previously only companies signed on with NVIDIA had access to it, but as a result of an contractual agreement made with Sony, the middleware can now be downloaded through the official SCEI developer network by all licensed PS3 developers.[blockquote2]"NVIDIA is proud to support PLAYSTATION 3 as an approved middleware provider," said Tony Tamasi, senior vice president of content and technology at NVIDIA. "Games developed for the PLAYSTATION 3 using PhysX technology offer a more realistic and lifelike interaction between the games characters and other objects within the game. We look forward to the new games that will redefine reality for a new generation of gamers."[/blockquote2]What does this mean for us? Not a whole lot. Might be seeing more games that take advantage of PhysX on PS3 in the future though.

This will be one interesting thing to look forward too... Not like the PS3 doesn't have great graphics and interactions already!!!
