from official firmware to custom firmware, you'll need to "hack" your PSP.
In this situation you'll need "Pandora Battery", which involves a homebrew-compatible PSP to help you convert a memory stick and a battery.
If you don't have that kind of PSP near you (like a friend, store, etc), you can go to noobz.eu
forums and there's a thread where people can help you convert the things you need, with a little fee maybe but it's worth it

Do you guys know there is now a 3.72 HX-2 http://www.consolespot.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1758 which still doesn't work properly same with some newer FW by some guy claiming to be DA called 3.72 MSDAX http://consolespot.net/forums/showthread.php?p=12452
Both of which still "Dont work" properly and the MSDAX would want you to mostly FLASH MANUALLY.
