New textures have been released? I gotta get those, i'll go look. Because I already have the Sikkmod

Damnit, it crashes when a map is loaded for some reason.
My VRAM usage jumps to 2GB is why I assume that happens, but it should NOT be at 2GB.
Without it my VRAM barely reaches 500MB normally in Doom 3 with 4MSAA+4SSAA Transparency.

Nvm, got basically workin.

Taking both those screenshots in a separate window and quickly switching between them with Ctrl+Tab, I honestly prefer vanilla for it's clarity. The Sikkmod appears to add lens flare which seems to blur the monitor to the side of the door. Vanilla just looks more crisp overall apart from the textures on the door frame itself.

If you turn off HDR in Sikkmod there's no difference in clarity. I only have SSAO and soft shadows on (though I had HDR and lens flare activated for a couple of the shots above as I was experiementing).

@Trigun: do you have another texture pack loaded? Seeing some redone textures that aren't in my shots... noticeably the ground tiling near the Monorail Station door. EDIT: Actually, looking at that shot closer, seems none of the textures were loaded in that scene, weird...

Playing at 2560x1600, the texture pack makes a big difference... most of the ultra textures to me look very muddy in comparison.

Well from the thread of the texture pack you are using they said that they are to be used with Monoxed (or whatever his name is) textures as well, so I combined them both.
And it does seem like somestuff won't load for some reason even though I have all my Texture compression settings to 0 and downsizing set to 0 too.(like now for some reason when I load Sikkmod the planet in the main menu is garbage)

But with Sikkmod I only have DoF,HDR, Vinegetting,Bloom, Colorgrading and Film grain on. Shadow softening is turned off and SSAO is next to useless for me(performance hits for both are painful). Lens flare and Sun beams is also turned off.
It makes all the difference really. It looks much better, and it only looks as good as it does because i've spent so much time tweaking it.
Having the colorgrading sharpness fine-tuned is a must really, it helps a lot. And it makes it look a lot better.

Also, I may have some other stuff still in my base folder that I can't remember what is what so I can remove it. I had like a a bazzillion Graphics mods all tweaked that I removed to try and make vanilla look vanilla.

Here are some more shots of Sikkmod+textures

Yeah, I didn't realize there was another one. Just installed the Monoxed pack too.

Here's a few screenshots from the Deus Ex texture pack released today

Bloom was in the original. But the developers of PCSX2 have disabled all post processing in MGS3 when you emulate it because it causes bugs/glitches/horrific slowdown apparently.
So it's there, just isn't emulated.

I think it will be good to play these hassle free looking this good, but it's really fucking shady when they are saying shit like "as you can see, we up-rez'd the textures! and blah blah blah, it's remastered"

I'm not sure exactly how they "Port" these games to the PS3 whether it's through an actual custom made emulation with modified source files or if it's really just a port and they up the rendering resolution and add SSAA. With all this time they have, I don't see WHY they couldn't at least upgrade the game to texturing standards for PS3/360 games. I'm guessing all that AA they are using is taking up all the RAM the two consoles have.

Why can't they take a hint from people like Eidos with their tomb raider collection, Ubisoft and their compilations based on the PC versions and Microsoft with Halo Anniversary which is REALLY a remaster, with the option to use the original graphics.

Deus Ex HR. Game looks really nice on PC, way better than any of the screenshots S-E released.

Playing some Deus Ex to bide the wait for Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

In the future, Paris will use sterling for currency it seems.

A few interesting screenshots from Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

The Knights Templar apparently had over 9000 estates (might need to open in a new tab and zoom in to read the text)

I'm fairly sure this is referencing an actual monitor archway that someone else built and posted photos of online.

Square Enix are looking to get the FF series up to 27 by 2027.
