Sony is taking its sweet time on adding PSOne emulation support to the PS Vita. While the company has promised that such functionality would be arriving "soon," it's still MIA -- after several months and a slew of firmware updates. However, a glimmer of hope has appeared, albeit inadvertently.

A Reddit user discovered that Buzz Lightyear of Star Command -- a member of the PSOne classics library -- was downloadable from the EU PlayStation Store earlier today[...]

Same here... I wouldn't mind doing a replay of Castlevania: SOTN on that OLED screen though :)

Darkstalkers 3 which was just released on the PSN is listed by the esrb as playable for PS3 and Vita. I think the delay for PSone support has always been about preventing piracy, fully expect these PSN Psone games (eboots) to be signed and encrypted as such. I seriously doubt they will even run in Psp mode, could be wrong about that though..idk.

Interesting development. I think RJC hit it right on the head though, it's all about sealing them up so they won't be an issue in regards to piracy - or rather, cracking open the Vita.
I'm sure Sony would rather take the time to ensure that than release it to the wild and have to cut it off soon after to patch it (which they'd do anyway, but it looks better the other way).

Yeah, just so Sony can make me pay to play a game I already own on a device that can play said games.(unlike the PS3) Honestly that's what I care about.
I hate owning digital copies of stuff.
I still buy physical release PC games as much as I can too.

Not like I own or want to own a Vita right now with all the crap they've pulled though.
But still, it seems like a smart move on their part I guess...

I hope they add new icons instead of using those tiny ass PSP ones though. It'd be nice if they made the background for each more personable as well. I miss the old regular PSP size icons. (Another reason why it's good to have a PSP still and be able to play games I own without having to pay for them again. Even if my second 1000 broke and all I have left is a 3000 with the scanline like problems that irritate me.)
