How time files. Two years ago from today, the PlayStation 3 hit North American store shelves as the first video game console with a built-in Blu-ray player. Admittedly, the PS3 came off to a shaky start, mainly due to its high introductory price point -- $599, but things have gotten better since then.
Consumers have embraced the high-definition Blu-ray format and games like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots have shown off the true capabilities of Sony's third initiative in the console hardware sector. But not only have games shown off the console's true colors, numerous firmware updates have evolved the platform as whole, further expanding its feature set and connectivity with the PS3's little brother, the PSP.
Time to break out the champagne and give a toast to year two and the future ahead!
