Agreed. The price point of the PSPgo was way too high for the hardware it was. I got one and I don't regret it one bit, still I could have used the extra cash..

BestBuy(Canada) has it on sale for $199.99

I think quite soon this will be the retail price for the go.

Sony is in a tough spot right now, they need to cut the price of the PSP even further. As a whole, the platform only moved 119K units last month in NA, barely edging past PS2.

I'd say the only way to reignite interest at this point is to announce a PSP successor. Backwards-compatibility is a must, too.
