replace some of the asian font files with 0 byte 'dummy' files. Doing so actually frees up quite a bit.

There are a couple of programs to do this for you and more. Outa-Space PSP and FreeSpacer.

I suggest you back up anything you plan on removing BEFORE REMOVING THEM. Because I've found that while at least one of these programs allow you to reverse a removal, it doesn't work.
 
Just go into the font folder and open up the gb3s1518.bwfon file in notepad. Delete everything inside it and save it. This gives you 1mb more space and it doesn't affect anything

Yes but by doing this you will be unable to play Japanese games or chinese games..

That's what I thought. After using Outa-Space, I always put the Japanese font back, so that Shift-JIS MP3 tags display correctly. I did not know that Japanese games broke without it, though.

If I ever ran out of customization space due to putting it back though...I'd probably cry. japanese font support is something I don't want to give up, even if I rarely have a need for it.
 
This is interesting; I had no idea you could even do this!

I don't mean to be a noob (I can't help it, though :(), but what's the point of doing this? What can you do with that extra space?
