PSP motherboard dilemma!

i've decided to buy a psp. and the model available here at the moment is the piano black PSP 2004. CFW are awesome. And i want to make sure my motherboard is hackable. i've read all the motherboard guides out there. I've looked for the letter on the box. And according to the guides if it is "G" then it could be the v2(hackable) or the v3(not hackable)

i've checked in 20 shops and they all have "G"

What now?! :confused1:
the chances of it being the v3 are higher cos they only keep the latest.

Well having a v3 mobo is not quite as restrictive as it once was with the CFE now, if you get a v3 pray for FW lower than 5.03 as the HEN will only work on 5.03.

Truth is that the serial code theory is flawed and the only way to avoid a v3 mobo is to get a new psp with FW lower than 4.01. There are a small amount of psp's with 4.01 that have a v2 board anything higher is 100% v3 mobo.

If they have the latest stock you probably going to get a V3 mobo. Question should really be 'What FW is the PSP running' - Maybe the shop will let you look?

will i be able to play backed up isos using chickHEN?
i will be able to get the older versons of the slim, but from shady shops. does installing CFWs have a high 'bricking' chance?

Hope they let me check the firmware.

BTW i was thinking of getting an ipod touch if(:crying:) the hackable psp isn't available.

Yes, with the CFE you have ISO support.

Generally no, when using pandora or hellcats recovery flasher - If you have a pandora most bricks can be fixed (except for the TA-088v3 and 3000)

If u get iso support and CFWs why do people go for the pandora battery, MMS method?

You are absolutely sure about this firmware thing? if its 4.01 or less i definitely have a hackable mobo?

what do u think about the touch?

Techinically there is no need for pandora now, although if you brick it is easier to recover with a pandora and for a long time pandora has been the only way.

The HEN and the CFE are both very new and ISO support has never been the goal of the HEN dev, Davee.

Im sure about the MOBO thing, yes - But it's your money.

Touch is very limited, but good in it's own ways. Not for me...

u have been a lotta help. +rep

one more thing

can chickHEN run on v3 mobos? cos the v3 had an issue with the pandora rite

I've seen a couple hundred guides on how to install CFWs from scratch.

Can u gimme a link which you think is the best and safest(and latest)? since u're a mod, u'll know best.
