PSP Power Pin color.

Recently just found out the power pin of my PSP1000 has became dark color or can say black color (before it was fully golden).

Bought my PSP since March 2007 and it serves me well till now :biggrin:
Just want to know that is the color of the pin affect the charging? Kinda curious because I love my PSP. Thanks.
 
its corrosion , If you can,,,, take a pencil eraser and ever so gently rub it, it should come off.

The alternative cause is over amping the contact, which a pencil eraser most likely will not remove.

If its corrosion yes it will effect current transfer. if its the other cause , nothing you can do so dont worry bout it.

prolly gonna show my age here,, but if you ever had a train set, that would happen to the rails as well, they are indeed easier to erase (clean) be careful. Hose those contacts and no psp.

But how do I use a pencil eraser to clean it since the power pin hole is so small O.o ?
 
I couldnt think of a way personally, inserting and removing the battery might help, if its the psp side, Might be possible to cut a pencil eraser into a small strip and put it on a dremel tool , if its spinning super fast you will hardly need pressure to clean the contacts, Make sure its a smaller slice of eraser then the gap between the contacts. Its going to bounce around a bit, dont bend the contacts. in this case you clean via speed NOT pressure , I might run it on a table or something to get it roundish to avoid vibration.

Unless theyre REALLY badly dirty it really shouldnt effect things to much, I dont honestly know if i would try the idea above, chances are you will hose it up more then it already is.
 
eh, wad i mean is the down right corner power pin, the one we usually use to plug in the adapter and charge battery one. Thanks.
 
Many electronics stores sell cleaner for this kind of corrosion. Just a few drops and then use a q-tip should do the job. It used to be common back when carts were how video games were distributed. With CD/DVD taking over, you don't see this kind of cleaner as much.
