PSP will only power on with Pandora Battery

So a friend recently gave me his broken PSP 1000. I figured it would be a good chance to try out the whole Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick hack because I thought it was just bricked. I made both after a bit of research and it seemed to have worked perfectly - in fact, it did work perfectly but it didn't exactly fix the problem I hoped it would. So after everything was done I tried powering it on with the regular battery that I had but it would go. I reinserted the Pandora Battery and everything is fine again.

I figure there is something wrong with the power mechanism and not the flash0 or anything software related but all I do is follow online FAQs and guides so I could be completely wrong, lol. So, any ideas on what the problem could be or how I could fix it? I'd love to get it working again to have a secondary psp to experiment with.

What IPL are you using on your memory stick?

You sure your other battery is charged up? There is nothing inside a psp that would only let a pandora battery start it. I have taken loads of them apart and particulary the 1000.

Does it power on with AC alone? Does it power on with either battery if no Memory card is inserted?

If you take battery out and any AC power, do you have to input time/date etc back in when you turn it back on?
