Queries about updating 3.02 OE-B and 3.10 OE-A to the latest CFW

Hi Guys,

First I'd like to say that I haven't been in the CFW scene for a long time now, and I am very amazed at how fast its grown, so I'm pretty stunned. Been going through this forum for ages and I want to find out something further before I go ahead and upgrade to one of the latest CFW.

If anyone could please help answer or advise me in any of these points, I would be much appreciated.

Me and my brother both have Fat PSP with CFW 3.02 OE-B and 3.10 OE-A.

First I'd like to know about which steps do people take to upgrade to 4.01 M33 and with which guide?

1. Using The Universal Unbricker To Unbrick / Downgrade / Restore Any PSP To 4.01 M33-2 http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3780

4. Do I really need 4.01 M33? I have recently come back to use my PSP for video and anime. But I am looking to get back into homebrew, games and music, as well as playing old playstation games. :huh:

Other things I would like to ask:

5. I've read about fake MS and stuff, which I want to confess I have fallen into getting one of these. I've tried to put movies onto them and sometimes MP4 files become unreadable or corrupt. At first I thought it was due to my old CFW, but it seems it might be the Fake Sony MS. Can anyone tell me if they have similar issues on unreadable / corrupt MP4 movie files with Fake MS? :crying:

6. Any recommendations on new things to CFW or homebrew you would like to mention/advise :w00t:


As I have mentioned before, any suggestions or personal experience about any of the above points I have covered would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone upfront

Use Hellcat's recovery, it's easy.
4. 4.01 M33 has better video support than 3.10 OE
5. I don't have any fake MS, but yeah, that usually happens when they're fake.
6. It really depends on you, but I'll you names. PSPTUBE, NervOS, Filer, Kurok, antitetris, no gravity, lightMP3 and emulators (there's loads of them)

Thanks for the advice and suggestions FearEvil19, I thought no one would answer me since I had some answers and guides for myself already.

I just thought I would share my own opinion as well as see what others think.

I'll do that, use Hellcat, or is anyone else have an opinion or the end result is all the same?

I'll do the upgrade this weekend...when I got the time...as you can see, I only have time to post here late at night lol 8) ...& damn my posts are long. Sorry!
 
I have upgraded both my PSP and my brother's to 4.01 CFW via Hellcat.
It works fine, now I'm looking into troubleshooting ISO's and video faults (if any)
