QUERY: 4.05 OFW downgradable? & Monster Hunter 2G?

My friend has a 4.05 OFW. I just made a PSP FAT/Slim Pandora & Magic Stick 3.90 using DC5.

He says his game Monster Hunter 2G needed it.

1. Is it possible to downgrade a 4.05 OFW? Every Pandora tutorial I read, it says, "unbrick ALL firmware versions, ALL future firmware versions". Does this statement still hold true? The reason is because I haven't seen anyone mentioning about downgrading a 4.05 OFW.

2. Has anyone got Monster Hunter 2G? Can it run on 3.90, or 4.01? Or only runs on 4.05?

It is possible to downgrade from 4.05 using a Pandora battery and magic memory stick. There is a certain motherboard revision that Pandora doesn't work on though -- TA-088 v3. PSP units with this mobo cannot run custom firmware.

Additionally, to install custom firmware on PSP units with a TA-088 v2 motherboard, you will need DC7 installed on your magic memory stick.

There's no way to check the motherboard revision without opening up the PSP, so I'd just try Pandora on it to see if it works or not. If it doesn't, the PSP won't brick or anything, so no risk is involved in trying this.

As for your second question, Monster Hunter 2G runs fine on 4.01 M33.

Damn, that was what I really want to find out... how to tell if you have a ta-088 v3 motherboard. So there's no way? Not looking into the open disc drive slot?

Hmm, and you say v2 mb only works with dc7... okay.

Theres no way to tell MOBO unless you can get CFW on it, paradoxially you cannot do that if you have a V3.

Best way i know and it is flawed is what FW it came with outta the box.

My friend doesn't know. Just knows now that it's a 4.05. I asked whether he updated. He says he had to to run Monster Bash... so I think 4.05 came with Monster Bash. I will clarify this with him and ask when he bought the PSP

Anything below 4.05 generally will not be the V3 (phew), however the v2 (3.95 OFW) will require DC7.
