Recovery Menu Issues

Lately, I've been having a weird problem with the recovery menu. The screen goes black.

The menu is still there. Sometimes, I can see it for a few seconds at the beginning, or it will flash on after a few seconds and flash away again later. Even when the screen is black, I can still use it if I know how many button pushes to make.

I don't get why it's doing this. What should I try as a fix?

Never heard of this.. when the screen went black did you try holding down the brightness button or press it a few times?

I'll try that if it happens again.

What I did notice is that plugging in/unplugging the AC adaptor had the power to make the picture return or disappear.

(It wasn't the case that plugging it in always brought it back, or visa versa... Just that sometimes the change in being plugged in would trigger a chance in being able to see.)
