[Release] 5.00 M33

Team M33 has done it again. Earlier today they released their custom firmware for the new 5.00 firmware. The changes were a bugfix (when changing speed in xmb, and the psp turned the brightness to 0 automatically the speed was reseted to 222 again) and obviously the 5.00 (which to me is a big enough change).

Here is the readme:

5.00 M33
----------

Instructions: Copy UPDATE folder /PSP/GAME/ and run.
Put the 5.00 sony update as 500.PBP in same folder, or let the program download it for you using a wifi connection.

Changes:
- 4.01 to 5.00

- Bug fix: when changing speed in xmb, and the psp turned the brightness to 0 automatically the speed was reseted to 222 again.

Note to pspstates plugin users: this plugin won't work in this firmware due to it being made
specifically for 4.01. Running it in 5.00 M33 can cause problems, wait until an update of plugin.

- Translating the recovery.
To translate the recovery create a text file in ms0:/seplugins/xx_recovery.txt
or flash1:/xx_recoery.txt (they are evaluated in that order), where xx is the language code
of your language:

es -> spanish
en -> english
fr -> french
de -> german
it -> italian
ja -> japanese
ko -> korean
nl -> netherlands
pt -> portuguese
ru -> russian
ch1 -> chinese simplified
ch2 -> chinese traditional

The file en_recovery.txt in translate folder is included for people to translate to their languages, this file is not needed for english people, as the english language is used when no language file is found.
Just change the english strings to your language ones, and put it in the path mentioned above. Be careful to check in the recovery that the lines look fine, don't use too large text.

The spanish file es_recovery.txt will be written by the program in the memory stick.

Guide.

I'm glad he's kept the process the same. Makes updating those things alot easier.

Yeah, as long as M33 has put it up for download from the Network Update. Which I assume they must have.

That makes life easier. My PSP has been sitting without a charge for over two months....
ditto, the PSP has been lacking slightly recently ... i havent found much use for it.
Although this looks like a worthy cause to plug that PSP into the wall.

For someone who hasn't updated for a long while, is there anything on this that's really worth me spending my time to update for?

Depends on how long. If it's the past year or more, definitely. Any shorter, depends if you really want access to PSN or not.

I was browsing IGN and few days ago and checked out a few PSP games. Noticed allot of good titles. Like others I've been neglecting my PSP also but after taking a peak I picked up some games and most are really good.

I found N + was pretty good. Simple platformer but addicting.

OK, so the Network Update isn't working for me. (It's been so long since I had to do this.) Where do I stick the 500.PBP file on my memstick?

Every time it tries to download it, I'm getting this error: 0x12340009

If your profile is correct your ready to go straight to the new M33 just in case it may be in the back of your mind. I remember last time you had a bit of upgrade to do last time you asked.

Relax. I haven't done anything with my PSP in probably a year and a half.

I'm all set now though, going to check out some new games.

Once you get the hang of it (Which ain't long) The pace is pretty good.

Its a platformer your not suppose to be able to ace the game so easily.
