[RELEASE] Game Categories v7

I've tried to fix the issue, and released an update. If the same problem persists, don't hesitate to report it, as I am still not able to reproduce the bug myself. Thanks to A_Nub for testing the current fix. :)

Update: Version 6

- Did attempts to fix a few crashes, although I am unable to reproduce the bug in my own PSP.
- Changed name of config file to avoid issues with the new format (old config will be removed).

My psp still crashes :( same issue as before. Thanks for the attempt :) much appreciated

Thanks for the update Bubbletune even though I haven't come across any problems since v5 :)

S? E? V? E? N?
Lol. I was going to use v5 for my slim. Then I saw v7. Thanks Bubbletune. +rep again.

edit:
I need to spread some first. Lol.

Sorry for English I am from Russia.

Bubbletune
Thank you very much for this great plugin! But we have some trouble with translate it to Russian. I put translated game_categories_en.txt (UTF-8) to ms0:/seplugins/. Then I renamed it to game_categories_ru.txt. But the Russian characters are not displayed. Why?
I tried this plugin (Game Categories v7) on PSP-2008 (ta-088v2) with the custom firmware 5.00m33-6 (also on 5.50gen-b2)

Yes, it's a bug that only occurs if you don't have an Uncategorized icon in Multiple Memory Sticks mode. ;)

Ohhh okay :D
I guess Hellcat's Recovery Flasher, Go!Edit, 6.10 OFW Update, Rock Band Unplugged DLC, and using Context Menu Mode was hiding it from me since they're only useable when in GAME root

I need to spread some first. Lol.
hehe same here

hey, as i use ms0:\psp\recovery\ (so i can run it from recovery console)
i cannot categorise that app (rename-move the folder). i shows up as uncategorized, which i don't want to see. any way to hide uncategorized menu? or is it not possible?

freezing on large folders

First off, EXCELLENT job on this.
There is, however, a small glitch to report. My psp freezes when i am viewing a category folder which contains a subfolder larger than 180 mb. This occured with DGEN 1.70 lite and PSP-Maps. At first I just deleted a few of the Genesis roms at a time and at 179 mb it stopped freezing. I moved the genesis roms to another folder in the ms root and set the new path in the emulator, which fixed that problem but I don't think I can do that with PSP-Maps. I'll just have to move that whole app elsewhere and can execute it through the homebrew_shortcuts.prx so it's not that bad.
I've just downloaded v7 and haven't tried it yet. I'll report back if it still happens or not.
Thanks again for this great plugin!

EDIT:Yes, v7 still does it. I also tried turning on "hide corrupt icons" and deleting the eboot.pbp from the PSP-Maps folder but it still tries to read the whole folder and freezes.

I have a question. I'm on 5.03 Gen A (Full) and I cannot get it to work properly.

The line in my seplugins/vhs.txt is ms0:/seplugins/game_categories.prx 1
The prx file is in the seplugins directory

But, The folders just don't appear for me. The programs all show uncategorized even though the game category is set at show all in vhs menu.

And some of the programs (not all) I put in the CAT_ folders I created now show up as corrupted data.

Am I missing something? the is the only Plugin I use...

Thanks for the help!

place this at the end of the line

[]

restart psp
activate HEN
install GEN-A
go to recovery mode then enable game_categories.prx

Done that. Still is the same.

Thing is, it kinda works, when I change the viewing categories, it show only what it ios supposed to show. Only in Show All I don't see the folders created, they are all showing as the unsorted option.

can u make so this plugins can hide the iso and savedata folder by using the renaming method? or else like have password to access the folder..

because i want to hide the iso game and the savedata game...

thanks..

crash PSP when used Game categories with MyRandomGameboot

Dear authors. PSP crash when using plugins Game Categories and MyRandomGameboots simultaneously.
Algorithm to hang like this:
1) Enter into a subfolder with the games or proggrams (clicking X);
2) Exit from the sub-folders (clicking O);
3) Enter into another subfolder with the games or programs. -> Crash!

P.S. Thanks for excelent plugins!

i already own the noumd.. i mean i want to hide the iso folder.. the games that in memory card not umd.. thanks for suggestion.

you can use the homebrew_shortcuts.prx to launch an iso via hotkeys from anywhere on the memory stick. Any combination of buttons can be used so there are a lot of different combinations you can assign for different iso's.
just move your ISOs to another folder (or just rename the ISO folder) and set the hotkeys by editing ms0:/SEPLUGINS/shortcuts.conf.

i've also tried hex-editing usbisoloader's eboot to read from a different directory than ISO when in 'debug' mode. it reads the list of ISOs in my "NOT_ISO" folder but freezes when I try to run one of them. I think I need to make a second edit somewhere, hopefully in the eboot and not my flash0.

Try swapping the order of the plugins in vsh.txt. ;)
