This just in: a blogger for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer is claiming that a reputable source has told him that Bungie has taken leave of Microsoft to form its own separate entity. The NDA on this information apparently expired today.

So why are they leaving? According to his source:

[blockquote2]Apparently MS just wants Bungie to make Halo for the rest of their natural days, and Bungie doesn't like how MS is constantly trying to "handle" everything they do.[/blockquote2]

Again, just a rumor for now. At this time Microsoft has neither confirmed or denied the rumor.

Well if true it doesn't mean there will be a PS3 Halo. As far as I know, Microsoft owns the rights to the Halo franchise.

It would, however, mean that Bungie is free to develop new games on other platforms.

I can completely see this being true, I mean, it makes perfect sense.

I don't know if these guys got anything but halo in em.

Marathon and Oni. Also why would bungie leave ms , thats like shooting your self in the foot . microsoft did alot of stuff for bungie , bring marathon to xbl arcade , marketing the shit out of halo 3 and probly paying them good , if bungie left microsoft they wouldn't have all the stuff that they have now , a nice office , a good working place and a good paycheck . MS is pretty much feeding them with cash and if they left , it's back to pissy matresses and shitty apartments.

true , marathon is a fps , but it introduced dual wielding into fps shooters ...

bungie do have more to them than halo...and since they have finished off the story arc for the halo series, i wouldnt be surprised to see them split from MS

What I want to know is, why did Microsoft not shut up. I don't view that as Bungie's loss, but Microsoft's. And Oni 2 FTW :w00t:
