As if no one saw this coming, rumor has it that the Climax developed PSP port of Bethesda's ambitious Oblivion has been given the axe. Apparently, Climax's Portsmouth team, which was working on the game, recently ran into major production issues and was increasingly running late on deadlines.

Porting Oblivion to the PSP was just a bad idea to begin with, so if the game has indeed been scrapped it's not all that surprising. The game will most definitely have to be watered down quite a bit (considering it was a beast for even the next-gen consoles). And I believe we still have yet to even see a proper screenshot...

Yeah, I feared this, but I couldn't've seen how good it'd'a been anyways. 32MB of RAM is NOT enough.:p

I heard it was gonna be a played out level game , start at one end , kill everything collect your crap and finish then start a new mission xD

But it wasn't going to be a port, was it? I read that the entire exploration aspect of the game would HAVE to be scrapped to make it fit with the PSP, and that it was going to be a dungeon-crawling hack-n-slash in the first place.

Yeah, not a port in the traditional sense. It was going to be a dungeon crawling type game but still carry other aspects from Oblivion such as character customization.

And see, I was honestly kinda looking forward to this (although after the lack of status updates on the game I kinda figured it died) because this game would've been genuinely fun, IMO. Know what would be awesome? If they ported Morrowind to the PSP... Yeah, I think it could handle it... You could even make it compatible with MODs on the memstick 'n' such.

Morrowind on PSP would've been a much better choice. And yeah, I think it would be possible without cutting anything out. If I recall correctly the original PC release was on 2 CDs, so that would fit nicely on UMD.

Exactly, man! *sniff sniff* I smell homebrew afoot...
