It's no secret: Electronic Arts has had its acquisition sights set on Ubisoft for awhile now. It was readily apparent when EA purchased a 19.9% stake in the French-based video game rival.

EA's deal with Take-Two hasn't been successful as of yet, but the company may also have plans to extend its operations through acquisition of Ubisoft. A quick glance at WHOIS records show that EA purchased the domain name EAUbisoft.com on the same day it grabbed EATake2.com. Both domains were registered on February 22 - two days before details on the Take-Two deal were revealed to the public.

Now, before you jump to conclusions, it's quite possible that EA purchased the address to fend off domain squatters. Secondly, Ubisoft has been performing strongly in financial terms, thanks to the record breaking release of Assassin's Creed.

Still, the fact that EA registered this domain just leaves the possibility open that it may be looking towards acquisition of Ubisoft, however remote that possibility may be.
