Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has confirmed that the direct PSP store will officially launch on October 15, alongside the release of a new system software update: firmware 5.0. The update adds an XMB icon that allows users to access the PlayStation Store straight from their PSP.

Following the launch of the 5.0 firmware, Sony will begin offering select UMD based titles as digital downloads on the same day as their retail release date. A list of confirmed titles can be found below, along with release dates:[blockquote2] * Yuusha no Kuze ni Namaikida or2 (10/16)
* Bleach Soul Carnival (10/23)
* Secret Agent Clank (11/20)
* Patapon 2 (11/27)
* LocoRoco 2 (12/4)
* Diamond Gunshot (Spring 2009)
* Resistance Retribution (Spring 2009)[/blockquote2]Keep in mind these dates apply only to Japan. Hopefully both SCEA and SCEE follow suit in regards to releasing brand-new titles on the store.

so why did they skip all the FW numbers after 4.20?

Sony gave us 4.05 FW for Slim and Phat

Sony puts on 4.20 firmware on the PSP-3000

but then they skip all the way to 5.0. wierd

No you'll still need CFW, because of all the "illegal copies" you all have lol

Of course Sony will encrypt the ones that are on the PSN as so they dont' get Pirated lol

And still we do need CFW for our beloved Homebrew :) ah to play snes, nes, genesis, mame etc etc on our PSP's

Too bad there isn't a really good mame emulator out there for the PSP. i mean the iphone can emulate more Archade games then the PSP 0_0

anyways i think i strayed too far from the topic lol
