Opulence and deprivation are so unevenly distributed here that you will often find millionaires living a few blocks away from people who are starving.

This is very true. Most of the country would be considered uninhabitable by people from other countries. Its only the big cities which have so called developed areas. The street adjacent to where I live is a slum filled with coconut leaf huts and bums who shit on the road outside their doorstep every morning.

There's no internet or anything outside one of the major cities. If you're lucky to be born into a rich family then you might get somewhere in life, otherwise your fucked with no way out.
