With the development of KH: BbS, Agito XIII and Versus XIII and other undisclosed projects you'd think Squeenix wouldn't need to fire anyone in quite a while...

I'm guessing it was just a staff clearing routine.

Letting go of 300 people is not a "staff clearing routine." It's a monetary gain routine, by not having to pay the salaries and benefits to 300 employees. The quickest and most efficient way to stop the bleeding is by reducing overhead costs like salaries.

That's what I meant xD I just suck at expressing myself in English sometimes.

It's obvious they are hurting because of bad business manouvers they have made over the past few years. Thankfully for them FF XIII will sell like hotcakes wheter it is a good game or not.

Obviously it had. But you must also consider the flops Squeenix had in games that didn't really make up for all they cost them to develop.
